Libertarian Commentary on the News, #14-24A: Mesopotamian Mess

By Nathan Barton

Good morning.  After a VERY long week (2400 miles on the road, 12 hours giving training, plus dozens of hours of preparation and other work, dealing with family – including Father’s Day get-togethers and such), back in one place for a couple of days, at least, so a chance to get more commentary out to people today and the next few days!

Like a lot of other commentary the last couple of days, I want to look at Mesopotamia and the mess there, first.

Things have gone from bad to incredibly worse in Mesopotamia, as “government” troops break and flee, more and more cities fall to ISIS, and both civilians and troops (and even prisoners) are rounded up and executed in mass, in quantities not seen since the Balkan War almost 20 years ago.  And this is Muslim-on-Muslim violence, and the US is NOT there (yet) muddling matters.  The religion of peace proves again what a piece of garbage that is.

Of course, the Fuehrer has decided to make it worse: to go BACK to Mesopotamia and waste more blood and treasure: 300 troops are going in to “protect” American “assets.” (Which does NOT include people, as we know, since Americans were abandoned at one base north of Baghdad, as they have been in Libya, Mexico, and elsewhere.) This weekend, fall of yet another town to ISIS (and the 1700 executions) had fueled sectarian fears in Iraq, as frightened families fled the Tal Afar onslaught, the U.S. announced that it was drawing down its embassy staff.  And incredibly, after all these years of demonizing Iran (Persia) as a threat to the entire world, Kerry says that the U.S. is open to talks with Iran over Iraq crisis, won’t rule out military cooperation with Iran and may consider drone strikes to help contain the intensifying violence brought on by militants in Iraq.  Do these people think that they are controlling the pendulum that they are riding?

The Fuehrer says that Climate “Deniers” are “Threat to everybody’s future”, that is, we are no different than terrorists.  We are enemies of the state.  He is justified using ANY force against us.  Rounding us up, taking away our freedoms, disarming and cutting off our words.  As with the other “new religions,” no doubt we can expect to see a climate version of the inquisition and star chambers soon enough.  And discrimination in government agencies, universities, and even K-12 schools against employees who don’t toe the line.

Mama’s Note: Hmmm, well that would be a true blessing, actually. How much better for people who can still think to be cut off from the growing cancer of this monstrosity?

Quote of the week:  Who said this? “The Bible was and remains the biggest influence on my thinking. I was raised reading it, memorizing passages from it and being guided by it. I still find it a source of wisdom, comfort and encouragement.”  (See end of column for answer.)

Political partisanship is becoming more personal, according to a Pew survey that finds that common ground is eroding sharply, almost creating two different nations.  Only two?  Maybe a half-dozen right here in the Fifty States.  Spite and malice and fear all play a role in this sort of thing, as government at all levels grows more tyrannical each month.

In New York City, even taking your wife to work is now presumption of a crime. The family car was seized as evidence of operating an illegal taxi:  they are filing a lawsuit claiming discrimination, but the NYPD continues to enforce the restraint of trade created by the NYC taxi medallion scheme, and don’t care if a few (or a lot) of innocent civilians get ground up in the process.

How much power does this tyrant have?  Apparently enough to declare hundreds of thousands of square miles of ocean in the middle of the Pacific a vast no-man’s-land with no fishing or anything else:  ocean claimed, admittedly, by the US as its “exclusive economic zone” 200 miles from the shore of various islands.  The article justifies this by pointing out that Bush II started the process by creating what I consider bogus “National Monuments” on the ocean floor and the water surface above it, and explaining there is a vast international competition to “protect” the ocean.  Listening to his claims and reasons for this latest power grab (“black market fishing,” huh?), it is clear that ANY excuse for more and more control is acceptable.

Still more power for him? The Fuehrer is ordering a ban on discrimination based on sexual orientation and will issue an executive order will prohibit federal contractors from discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation.  Which will echo Denmark’s attack on religion, by requiring faith-based groups that contract with government to provide services (such as chaplain services in prisons and hospitals) to accept homosexual “marriage” and other abominations.

Colorado’s Governor, John Hickenlooper (D-CO) has apologized to the sheriffs in his state for the way Colorado Democrats pursue gun control laws. One has to wonder just how worried Hickenlooper is about winning reelection this year…  Meanwhile, the Colorado state government might be “apologizing” but it is still becoming more and more an evil burden on the people, churches, and businesses of Colorado.

What an example of socialist healthcare in action! A grandmother in the UK was denied help at a local hospital: the receptionist would not even call for an ambulance from another hospital.  Instead, the woman was forced to call an ambulance herself (during a heart attack) to come and rescue her.  We can expect this to happen here in the US:  in fact, a version of that already happened to a relative of mine a few weeks ago:  he was at a medical clinic when he passed out for a few seconds.  Instead of doing anything to help him, they sent him to a nearby hospital emergency room.

Quote of the week: Incredibly, it was Hillary Rodham Clinton that said that, and recently.  Her lack of knowledge and her hypocrisy make her a PERFECT successor to Bush II and the Fuehrer, indeed.  As one commentator pointed out, Hillary is going to run, we just don’t know when she’ll announce it.

Mama’s Note: She can “run” and everyone will have a holiday discussing her vast repertoire of lies and shenanigans. I have no doubt at all that someone will stick their foot out and trip her good at some point, maybe more than once. Ought to be fun to watch.

  1. All the union guys at the watering hole say it’s going to be Hilary. And they think she’ll do a great job. If only she could bring back the 1990’s economy. She’s can’t though, because she’s just a puppet in a pantsuit.

Unless America offers a parliamentary veto or motion of No Confidence in this entire governement, I will continue to abstain from voting.

As far as the Iraq conflict, I imagine all the information I am privy to is corrupted or manipulated in some way. Even so, I continue trying to glean some truth from the endless manufactured sound-bites of the presstitute media.

Welcome to The Price of Liberty, Tor!

Why would Hillary (Or Obummer or any of the rest of them) being a “puppet” make any difference? She could be Ron Paul and Thomas Jefferson in one, but couldn’t roll back a single thing that has led America down the path to destruction. The weight of the rest of the political structure wouldn’t allow it. None of this mess is due to any single person, political party or event, but almost entirely to general belief in the myth of government “authority” and the desire of so many to avoid personal responsibility for their lives, to get “something for nothing.” Sadly, it has become very clear that this state of affairs won’t change peacefully, and that general suffering and much loss of life will accompany any meaningful reset. What the survivors choose afterwards is anyone’s guess. And we can only choose for ourselves, obviously. It is long past time for Atlas to shrug… and let the chips fall where they may.
