Good morning, at least here in the Black Hills. Around the world? A bad weekend and a bad week. Here is a brief look.
Islamic wars – Murder and more
Last week, stories have appeared that “christian” and Yazidi children are being thrown from mountaintops to keep them from rape, slavery, and torture by the jihadist “terrorists” of the Islamic State: the new Caliphate, as well as to keep them from starving or dying of thirst. I have not been able to confirm the truth of that, but HAVE seen significant substantiation of women and children being raped, made slaves, and executed (murdered) together with conscript soldiers and many people just for being of different sects of Islam. The fact that Progressive, atheist France has opened its borders to christians fleeing from Mesopotamia is strong evidence of the horror faced by so many. I find it interesting that the mainstream media is emphasizing the plight of the Yazidi, but often ignoring the similar blight for hundreds of thousands of “christians.” But it isn’t just the media.
While their own brethren are dying and starving, the Anglican Church apparently seems to be more concerned about Muslims in the Gaza Strip, instead of raising money to help the people in Mesopotamia. At least those in Wales seem to: you would think that the Welsh of all people would understand what was happening in the christian areas of Mesopotamia. Yes, we should show mercy and provide for the poor and downtrodden and tyrannized of all peoples, but the first priority should be to our brethren, and only then to our enemies.
Government-ruined, theft funded schools?
Should parents have to pay the college debt of their dead children? Well, if they cosigned, and did not provide for common sense measures (like a term life insurance), why should they NOT? Never mind, parents are claiming they should be freed of any obligation that they signed on, and government should pay instead. And too many people are supporting them.
In one school, the 9th grade curriculum now includes such hypersexual topics as bondage and vibrators. “What’s next, a field trip to an XXX-rated shop?” asks one commentary. No, probably to a brothel. Based on the unanimous decision of the teachers and the superintendent’s response to a thousand parents’ complaints. All of these parents should be responding not just with complaints but with actions to pull their children OUT of these cesspools. Fremont, California: is there any surprise? But it is not as insane as the next incident.
“They told me my son brought a weapon to school and they asked me if I was aware,” McDonald said Wednesday. “I asked them what it was and they said it was a plastic Nerf gun.” McDonald said had he known his 4th-grade child was planning to take the blue, orange and green plastic toy to class, he would’ve told the child not to take it. The child was initially given three days suspension, which was reduced to three days in-school suspension, McDonald said. This is yet another parent that has to get over it: get your child OUT of that school.
Old World Mistakes
I have long decried the way the United Kingdom has betrayed its heritage, its legacy of liberty, and the sacrifices of its people. I have pointed out that the stupidity that began with the Boer War in the 19th Century that led directly to its evil alliance with the progressive regime of France (ancient enemy both of the English people AND of liberty) and greed and hatred led to the Great War. Too few people in England are willing to admit to this, but perhaps this innovative and beautiful memorial to the British dead of the Great War of 1914-1918 will encourage SOME Brits to rethink that time and recognize the evil: a million synthetic poppies spilling around the Tower of London. I encourage you to look at the phones and picture the lives they represent.
A special “interfaith” conference in the famous “mother church” of Protestantism in Speyer (near Mannheim, Germany) was interrupted by a rather brave if naive woman who rebuked the conference for allowing a Muslim imam to speak in the church building, pointing out correctly that the meetinghouse was built both as a memorial to those who rejected the false teachings Protestants attributed to the Roman Catholic Church, and a location from which to proclaim truth and NOT a platform for the evils of Islam which Europe has been threatened with for thirteen centuries. She was, of course, removed and condemned as a bigot and Islamophobe and a disturber of the peace. The imam, preaching jihad and condemning christianity and judaism was, on the other hand, praised for his fearlessness and promotion of interfaith peace.
Economics, what’s that?
Workers in the private sector in the Fifty States are three times more likely to get fired than those in the government sector. Anyone familiar with government bureaucrats can understand that this is so, and why; when it comes to layoffs due to poor cash flow and similar problems in free enterprise, it proves why the stability and security of a government job is so great a temptation, even for lovers of liberty.
An article in Forbes explains how Russia misunderstands trade And bans US And EU food imports to respond to EU and US bans and return the punishment. Forbes points out that not just Russia but Napoleon failed to understand the harm is NOT to the opposing nations, but rather to the people of the nation imposing the bans. The people of Russia are better off buying cheaper imports than trying to produce them in their own farms and factories, and can thus make more producing OTHER things that Russia does well (like weapons and vodka). Understandably, Mama Liberty agrees with Forbes: “This Russian action simply makes the Russian citizenry poorer. I wonder what the Russian phrase for “To cut off your nose to spite your face” is?” Nathan: Sadly, the FedGov would do EXACTLY the same -and indeed are doing so.
