Eagle Rising reports that Nancy Pelosi says that the Congress’ sexual harassment system needs to be changed, after recent reports that for years (apparently 20 or more), there have been Congresscritturs sexually harassing each other and staffers. (No report on whether they did anything to lobbyists.)

Honestly, this comes as a bit of a shock, and I had to make sure that Eagle Rising wasn’t channeling The Onion or National Lampoon.  The article also reports that a bill has been introduced in the Senate to require sexual harassment training for all – or at least all new Senators and Members of Congress.

First, (and we double-checked), Nancy Pelosi was once (up until 2010, in fact) the boss: the Speaker of the House.  If this problem has been going on for twenty years, why didn’t she fix it when she was in charge?  And if she wouldn’t/couldn’t, then why didn’t those loving, compassionate squatters at 1600 (you know, Moochelle and her partner) do something about it with that bully pulpit of theirs?  After all, they came to the defense of transgenders and homosexuals-in-love and all the rest.  No?

Second, Congress types are federal employees – and FedGov employees are required to have sexual-harassment prevention training.  So why isn’t this being done?  Are Congresscritturs exempt from this?  (Like so much else.)

Or maybe what is being introduced in this bill is HOW-TO harass people sexually? Not prevention, but such subjects as “covering it up” and “getting better results.”

Which is really a bit of a surprise, too.  All these Congress types are veteran politicians with years of experience.  You would think that they all have a lot of experience in harassment of one or both sexes.  After all, they’ve had great mentors in that effort over the years, like the Kennedy brothers.  And a good many others.  Do they really need MORE training in how to be typical political scumbags?

But the sex scandals are far from limited to Congress types hitting on each other and staff.  And they are far from new (as the Kennedys demonstrated).

Which brings me to my next point. Russia Today (and many other sources) reported that the Kennedy documents released recently include FBI reports on another American demigod, Martin Luther King, Jr.  The reports include details on multiple adulterous affairs, drunken parties and orgies, and direct links to the Communist Party.  Many sources repeatedly emphasize that the “allegations” are unproven, and point out the evil hand of J. Edgar Hoover in the deal. In fact, the Washington Post calls the reports lies.

Which might be reason to doubt the charges, except for the fact that many sources over the last 50+ years have made the same claims about the debauchery and political perversions of this revered religious and political leader. Claims made both before and after his death.  For an ordinary political figure to commit adultery, betray his wife, violate moral codes, and cooperate with the enemies of his nation is bad enough.  For a preacher, a man preaching morality and purity and love of God and man, it is far, far worse.  It is a disgusting and despicable life that this man led.  A life which deserves no more than a few footnotes in history.  Certainly not someone now all but worshipped and all but portrayed as being at the right hand of Christ.

It is more sickening to realize that all of the politicians and civil rights advocates can point to MLK and in essence (if not outright) say, “well, he did it, so why jump on us for doing it?” (Actually, I wonder just what Glenn Beck, who nearly worships MLK himself, has to say about this.)

Certainly, the Kennedy family (or at least the males) and then Lyndon Johnson have little that they could have said about MLK without showing their hypocrisy knew no limits.  But King’s hypocrisy far exceeds their own: as a Baptist minister and supposed follower of Christ Jesus, to say nothing of his own sermons, speeches, and writings.

But he has gotten away with it.  Just as the Kennedy boys, Bill Clinton, and numerous others have.  And just as countless religious leaders have.  In the eyes of God, King is no better than the “celibate” priest molesting little boys, or getting drunk on the Eucharist wine.  No better than the “pastor” of some church sleeping with the wives of the deacons, or seducing their daughters.  Not a worthy leader or example for anyone or anything.

I know that it is common to excuse such things – the lies, the betrayals, the other immorality.  We are told those are personal matters, and should not affect how we view these “leaders.” And ditto for sports and media celebrities.

That is garbage, pure and simple.  A man who is unable to keep his solemn vow to the woman who is (or should be) his best friend and companion for life, who cannot control his personal lusts, cannot and should not be trusted with anything.  Not even the life of a dog, much less the lives of millions. Not with signature authority on the family checkbook, much less with the spending of billions. If they betray their wives, will they care who else and what else they betray?  (And ditto for wives who betray husbands.)

Yes, we are talking about the Congress of the United States – but not MY Congress.  These things prove the wisdom of Psalms 146:3, “Put not your trust in princes, in human beings,…”  As Acton put it, power corrupts…  And it doesn’t have to be absolute power: just the power of a local elected politician or appointed official (or “officer of the law”); just the power of a local minister or preacher is enough to corrupt.

I want none of it, and neither should anyone else who loves God and/or loves Liberty. Government and “organized religion” by men and women is inherently evil, and again, Congress, Hollywood, and the elite demonstrate it.
