Just came across this article telling us 7 things we should know about this so-called shutdown. Didn’t see anything I’d worry about, of course. The whole exercise in musical chairs is silly, at best. Just more raving and ranting, each politician trying to show how he/she is best at manipulation. They are fighting for control most of all.
Then I read this and had to chuckle:
How much money can the country lose during a shutdown?
The 16-day government shutdown in 2013 cost the country $24 billion of lost economic activity, according to an analysis from ratings agency Standard & Poor’s.
“The payroll cost of furloughed employee salaries alone – that is, the lost productivity of furloughed workers – was $2.0 billion,” the Office of Management and Budget reported in 2013.
Productivity? Isn’t that supposed to be something that creates wealth, value, something people actually want to buy? Isn’t that value created in excess of the overhead?
Does the non-voluntary government, at any level, with any name, ever create wealth or value, something people want to buy and use? In what way is the government “productive?”
I can’t think of anything. You?
The Price of Liberty 
The only concern about being “shut down” that I know of is that the clock keeps running. If a comment period ends during the shutdown, tough luck, the regulation goes into effect anyway. Per day fines via their unconstitutional Administrative Hearing process keep accruing. IRS keeps tacking on late charges and interest. If you had to renew a federal license for something, and you didn’t do it before, your license runs out.
Damn bastards are only there to make problems for the rest of us. C’mon, Claire, are you sure?

I gave it a lot of thought over the weekend, but I couldn’t come up with a single thing in my life that had been affected, one way or another, by this bogus “shutdown.” But I would suggest that those who want freedom avoid doing any of those things you mention all the time, Steve. I don’t have anything to do with the IRS, or any “federal licenses.” In any case, the idiots are all set to play this silly game again next month.

Oh, I agree you should have as little to do with them as you can. Personally, I doubt anything in my life has changed. Not like I was going to comment on their silly rules anyway. Fortunately, I’m not on the clock. Not all people are as lucky.
Problem is the feds don’t have the same attitude; c.f., Bundys, Finicums, Hammonds and countless other people who have run afoul of the goons, whether some silly “endangered” species, “wetlands” designations, banned vegetation, etc. I’m just not convinced sitting in the pokey for a few years or being planted is the best way to be free.
And, yeah, that was my reaction when they gave themselves a little over 2 weeks. Those clowns haven’t been able to get it together in over 8 years. What makes them think they can in 2 weeks? Of course, they know they can’t. It’s just theater to fool the rubes. Though I’m not sure there are as many rubes as they seem to think. I guess time will tell.

Yes, countless people still run afoul of the feds, and all the non-voluntary state/county/city governments otherwise… they are all our enemy. Unfortunately, many of the people affected by all the evil STILL seem to think that they can get the governments to do their bidding, to control other people – not themselves – and if they just “elect the RIGHT PEOPLE” they can make government work fine, for them at least. They are not at all ready to give up controlling other people, just want all the “right” people to be in charge. They can’t seem to understand that freedom won’t come from politics, no matter who they elect.
It’s a vicious cycle that won’t end until people decide to withdraw their natural authority from the non-voluntary government and control their own lives… leaving everyone else alone to do the same. I hope some folks are beginning to think that way, but it is early days. As for me, a low profile and deliberate withdrawal, along with careful non-compliance… that’s all I can do.

having freedom?
not being told how to live down to the smallest detail?
an inability to tell others how to live and steal from them via govt?

Of course, but the joke is that this sort of “shutdown” does nothing to stop those things. Luckily, there are a lot of people these days who don’t want or need to be told how to live, and don’t want to control or steal from others anyway. Eventually, the “shutdown” can be permanent.

If you produce nothing, you are a feeder. Of course, a prog will tell you society will crash if there’s no government behind it. We still remember the Petulant One shutting down the parks. And now that Donald says the parks will not be shut, the lefttards are screaming about potential environmental damage. We tire of their constant games, and think maybe it’s time to make it real for them.

When we go camping and vacationing, we go out of our way to avoid “federal” and even state land, and try to stick with county areas and parks. Better maintained, and less sense of entitlement from the tax feeders.

The base problem is that the non-voluntary government claims to own every life and every square inch of our property. There isn’t any place left to avoid it. And, if ever people generally do get tired of that, there’s going to be hell to pay. That’s the only thing that will make it “real” for anyone.
