Ari Armstong, a libertarian Republican in Colorado, just published his latest Colorado Freedom Report, discussing the response of the Colorado congressional delegation to the hot political fad of the month, trashing the Donald for the policy of separating parents and children when they jump the border.

He makes many excellent points, and the topic deserves more comment.

I really appreciate the sort of research and report Ari did, on the delegation’s responses. As I told him, it is heartening to see that they ARE responding, mostly appropriately.  Even Senator Ken Buck’s response is better than I would have thought, seeing how he’s such a big law-&-order type. (He is a GOP type from Weld County.)

But as I told Ari, and others, it is too bad that they didn’t do anything about this sort of abuse back in 2014.  I guess the guy squatting in the White House then was given a pass. (I don’t suppose it had anything to do with his Tranzi credentials, street cred, or the reports that he at least once posed as an immigrant himself.)

And I wonder when all these congress-critturs are going to really take action to end government separating children from their parents on a much larger scale than what is happening to these border-jumping children?

I am of course referring to, not DHS (and its border gang thugs), but DHHS and its affiliate thugs in all fifty states. These thugs go by names like “child protective services” and “child and family services.” And of course, they are aided by their sister agencies in the various Departments of Education.

They get their jollies (and their paychecks) by going around snatching children from their parents and families. They often do so on the most flimsy of excuses and charges. The children are not migrants (usually), but include homeschooled children and the children of petty criminals including pot-users and the like. Sometimes children are taken away from their parents because their parents let them play outside without hovering over them.  And sometimes when the parents make their child walk home a WHOLE mile from school or a bus stop, instead of chauffeuring them.

And that is not even talking about the children often separated from their parents for life when their parents are imprisoned as part of the war on some drugs.

Nor should we forget the legacy of Janet Reno and her actions at Ruby Ridge and Waco. Or for that matter, separating children from their parents for life when Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Trump order the killing of their parents by drone or other attack. Or who are gunned down by cops despite being innocent of anything. Of course, it wasn’t just the parents that got turned into crispy critturs in Yemen, Libya, Serbia, Afghanistan, or Waco.  DC has a lot of children’s blood in its hands.  Which makes the appeal “it’s for the children” ring even more hollow.

How about the Dems and Reps stop being hypocritical?

They won’t, of course.  Government thrives on abusing children.  When they can use children as the excuse for exercising their power to abuse the parents (or others), government does.  But the officials and agencies (and politicians) don’t shy away from the abuse of the children themselves.  Whether it is in government-run, tax-funded institutions, or by government-goon contractors.  Or by not just allowing but encouraging the slaughter of children in the womb.  And dozens of other ways, including “child labor” laws which prevent children from working to earn money – even while their parents lose their own opportunities to earn a living by minimum-wage and licensing laws.

To say nothing at all about thugs (and the people who snitch and inform and file complaints) who go around busting little children for selling lemonade without a license, whether that is in Colorado or Texas or DC. (And by the way, using the excuse to separate children from their parents, “for their own good.”)
