It’s for the children…

By Nathan Barton

Child abuse is a serious, deadly problem in this country.  Consider this:

Not long ago, a NINE year old killed himself in Denver. He was bullied because he decided (and announced) that he was homosexual.  (Or maybe transgender.)

We discussed this already, so you may recall the TEN year old punished for being respectful to his teacher in North Carolina. (He said, “yes, ma’am”)

These are a couple of recent examples of child abuse.  In the “public” (government-run, tax-funded) schools.

But there is more:

On the purely political side of things, we find a few nasty things. I have a separate commentary to be published about the abuses of children related to saying the Pledge of Allegiance.  (To be published.) But let us talk about the growing “police” (military) occupation of public schools, and the way schools are increasingly literally places of imprisonment.  Where the concept of “closed campus” is now enforced with fences, guards, checkpoints, and all the rest.

While it is several years old (2014), ProPublica and NPR jointly published a lengthy article on how students are being abused by restraints and physical abuse on the part of staff, including “school resource officers.”  The story is horrific, but I can find that it has made little or no difference in the last four years. And the story reported 267,000 incidents of harm to students per school year.

The abuse in schools takes place on a daily basis.  Some of it is simply emotional, although it can quickly result in physical injury and even (as with the 9-year-old) with death.  But there IS physical abuse as well, as the ProPublica story relates.

But the real threat is moral and mental. More than the dozen or so cases of sexual abuse by teachers (or other staff) each year. More than the cops using physical force and violence to subdue a student in a classroom or hall, in front of dozens of other students, whether needed or not.  More than the arrests, suspensions, and expulsions for having a plastic table knife or a toy gun on a keychain or a tee-shirt with a National Guard statue on it (a Minuteman carrying a musket).  Or a Trump MAGA hat. Even more than saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

“The test for whether one is living in a police state is that those who are charged with enforcing the law
are allowed to break the laws with impunity.” — Jon Roland founder of the Constitution Society

So, you say, Nathan, that we need to get our children out of the public schools.  But is homeschooling going to be any better?  Parents are constantly abusing their children.  Look at that Muslim extremist group in New Mexico!

I am the first to agree that parental abuse of children is a sad fact of life, and has been throughout history. Although it seems to be increasing today, it may simply be that it is noticed and discovered more than in the past, as we lose privacy and there is more attention paid to such things.

But children abused at home are still abused there even if they are also abused at school.  So they are MORE abused. Abusing them in schools does not prevent or compensate for abusing them at home.

But private schools are a definite alternative, and if selected carefully and supported whole-heartedly, can be good.  Certainly better than the “public schools” even if they try to ape the public schools too much. The major reason is, of course, that the parents are paying – so they do get to have a LOT more input.  Much more than the tax-funded schools, where taxpayers get as little say as the draftee does about where he is going to war next.

Modern government-run, tax-funded schools are incubators for socialism, tyranny, and a servile, boot-licking population.  Get as many children out as you can. Make people aware that there ARE alternatives. Encourage and support those alternatives.  After all, it is for the children, right?

when the sun sets on the amerikan empire, as it has done on all empires previously and will continue to do so, there will be the remnant from which the new society, even if just local, arises. this remnant will be composed of those who have foreseen the calamity coming, educated their children at home and instilled a sense of responsibility and accountability in their children.

Beau, this is something I have believed since a young man, and see every evidence that it will happen here, as it has in so many other places and times. But this time, I do think it will be more than simply the fall of an empire, but the collapse of all of “Western Civilization.” Whether it is a single new civilization and culture that rises from the ashes, or a hundred, it will rise because of parents who prepared their children who prepared their children, and will at least have the potential for greater liberty and progress.
Here in North America, the future, I believe, will be in the West: the Rockies and the Great Plains, from Alberta all the way to Sonora and even Nuevo Leon. The coasts are toast, and the old Midwest, like New England, has lost its savor. There is no love for liberty in so many places (in the general population: I’m not saying that there are not individuals and families even in the most state-worshiping areas who love liberty. Most have long ago traded security and prosperity for freedom.
