According to that sterling source of news, “Newsweek” the National Libertarian Party “has filed for conservatorships for President Joe Biden and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, referring to them as ‘geriatric elites’ mentally unfit to properly serve the American populace.”
These men need our help and sympathy.
Frankly, we think that it should include a discussion of how their families and staffers are “abusing an elder” and the conservatorship is critical for both Uncle Joe and dear Cousin Mitch to live well. After all the District of Columbia Attorney General is very hot about protecting elders. It is literally and figuratively a crime in the District.
Second, we think that similar lawsuits should be filed to help several other politicians in DC: for example, Nancy Pelosi and Diane Feinstein. We need to stop encouraging and facilitating their abuse by family, political “friends,” and fed-gov staffers.
Encourage this situation to also be addressed in your State and local government.
Note: We realize that the chances of a DC court actually granting this petition are zero and less than zero. But it points out some serious concerns and offers some help over waiting for one or more of these people to have a major, public breakdown with the power they have. And it points out, indirectly, how we Americans have surrendered our destinies and future to men and women who cannot be trusted with the power that they have. Or even a fraction of it.

So far as I can tell, there is no actual “petition.” The Libertarian National Committee says it has discussed the matter with lawyers. Who probably told them “I’m not interested being sanctioned by a court, and possibly disciplined by the bar, for bringing such an obviously vexatious/frivolous action.”
What makes it vexatious/frivolous is not the mental status of the elders in question. It’s that the LNC’s qualifications as conservator are roughly equivalent (probably slightly inferior) to those of any random urine-soaked wino who drags himself out of an alley and holds himself out for the position. The wino is probably capable of begging enough money to keep himself fed and supplied with cheap liquor. The LNC has cratered the party’s member/donor numbers and continues to lay off staff to avoid bankruptcy (while bringing on the chair’s not-obviously-well-qualified live-in boyfriend as a commission/contract fundraiser, but not mentioning that to the membership until someone noticed).

Tom, several sources including my original one were sure that they actually did file the petition, and that a number of attorneys did prepare and file it for the LNC. We at TPOL have as little (or less) love than you for the LNC, and even less for lawyers (if that is possible). But there are a few of these squires that do seem to have more courage and gumption than their colleagues in crime. If no more brains.
We’ve not paid much attention to the LNC shenanigans at all for a long time.
