Thank you for your patience. Posting of commentary will be rather sporatic and irregular in the next couple of weeks due to workload and sickness on the part of TPOL staff!
It seems that every day we have yet another (or two, or three) examples of how the craziness, the madness, of government at all levels is growing.
Several weeks ago, Philadelphia suffered massive looting downtown. Last Tuesday, at a “summit” the local DA said, “And the people who have been involved in committing crimes during this unrest will be addressed individually. We will look carefully to see whether this is a one-off situation and they’re fundamentally law-abiding people and hold them accountable one way or whether they are criminals.” If I am a straight-arrow and never even got a traffic ticket, and at age 60 decide to rob a convenience store, am I not a criminal for that single act? How many prosecutors or judges would give me a “Get out of Jail” card if I claim I am “fundamentally law-abiding” like this? If convicted, I’m a crimimal! Mercy or forgiveness does not remove that fact. Weird, or not?
Also last Tuesday, a former CIA director seemingly suggested the assassination of a sitting US Senator who is delaying Senate confirmations of various military appointments by denying unanimous consent. Much as we here at TPOL have suggested that a good many senators and representatives in DC might qualify as “domestic enemies,” we find this just a bit on the extreme side. Hayden has, of course, ordered the killing of many so-called enemies of the state, but this? Madness, indeed.
Again on Tuesday, we learn that some United Nations agency “UN Women” has declared that “trans lesbians are lesbians too,” and wonder if we are the only anarchists who find this baffling? To us, it would seem the two perversions logically cancel each other out, so why should a government agency push this meme? Crazy!
Last week, it was reported that a Long Island school bus driver, who was fired for drinking and driving the bus, will not face charges by police or the prosecutor. Apparently, they are not going to do this because she claimed that she didn’t know that “White Claw” (a hard seltzer canned drink) was alcoholic. Oh, and her taste buds were affected by her chemotherapy. Now, we here at TPOL checked images of White Claw online, and every can has “X% alcohol content” on the label. But maybe she can’t read? Funny: we thought that you have to read to get a CDL (Commercial Drivers License), under Federal and New York law. And we have always understood that any consumption of alcohol (or drugs) by a CDL driver on duty is grounds to yank the license. (And we understand that humans cannot taste alcohol – just what is mixed with it. None of us drink alcohol unless it is in prescribed medicine, so we can’t say for sure, but have been told that.) Are we missing something?
These four items are a timely warning (as if we needed more) that today more than ever government is madness. We see more of this when it comes to foreign policy and the spendthift ways of govenment. Can anyone explain (other than that it is crazy) why Uncle Joe and his thugs insist on supplying money to Hamas in Gaza at the same time as they condemn the terrorism executed by Hamas AND support the massive demolition bombing of Gaza? Or why $6 billion dollars belonging to Iran (we are told) is tucked into a bank in Qatar?
What excuse other than the madness of ambition and lust for power and wealth?
What excuse do WE have for supporting government in any way?
