Craziness 2 – more bizarre recent media nonsense

Ohh! The mainstream media is freaking out over Chinese police being “NEAR” Hawai’i. A mere 1300 miles away in Kiribati. Goodness! “Chinese authorities have stated their intention to reconstruct an airstrip on Kanton Island, previously used by the U.S. military during World War II to combat Japan.” Oh dear! The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, under the control of Marxist Justin Trudeau, is only about 400 miles away from us here in the Black Hills, and the Federales down in Juarez are only about 400 miles from the Four Corners! We have to start trembling in fear!

The media is also in a panic over rising Christian Nationalism – especially with The Donald closer than ever to returning to the White House. “News reports about a rising conservative think tank express concerns about its ties to the movement. A high profile documentary asks whether a new wave of believers will wash away democracy in America. And Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee, is increasingly embracing the narrative that he has been chosen by God — that only he can save America from Satan.”

We could only hope that democracy would be washed away. The only kind of democracy that might work for us would be L Neil Smith’s unanimous consent.

But speaking of “democracy,” anyone?

We are told that in the Fifty States, 23 percent of respondents said they wanted their state to opt out – that is, secede. (Or if you prefer, divorce.) About half (51 percent) opposed secession, and 27 percent were unsure. Paul Roberts, a Seattle Times writer, said the secessionist star was rising. He put this down to ‘political polarization, rising urban-rural tensions and rifts between states … and the federal government on issues like immigration and border security.’ Younger adults are keener on secession than their elders, researchers found. And Republicans are bigger fans of splitting than Democrats — regardless of whether they live in Red or Blue states, according to the report.

Certainly, there are many pieces of evidence indicating the States’ people are more and more divided over many issues. Not just political, but social and religious and economic. Gee, you don’t suppose that back in the ancient past (you know, 25 years ago, in the last century) we were all united on all these things? Odd, I don’t really recall that. Or even 50 years past.

Another touch of bizarreness? The Pantex Plant NE of Amarillo in the Texas Panhandle is in dire danger, according to the MSM. The wildfires we have mentioned are supposedly threatening to destroy the plant, which has been shut down several days due to smoke and to make sure that traffic and supply is available to people fighting and fleeing the fires. But according to maps and satellite photos, the fires are both a good many miles away (4-6) and the winds are blowing in the opposite direction. And you can see in photos that the defensive perimeter of “America’s only nuclear bomb facility” provide a very good firebreak. And equipment and personnel available can be assumed to be reasonably capable of fighting any sparks and hot ash that might drift across the security zones. But that does not keep people from panicking, especially the media.

These are just a few examples of the craziness that we see daily in the media. Not just the mainstream, but every flavor. As we see it in politicians, government bureaucrats, and even business. And don’t get us started on social media and the nonsense which pops up every minute. Some pedestrian gets hit by a car in the middle of the night on a city street, and suddenly, we are all going to die splattered on the pavement by drivers. To name just one example.

Many people no longer feel that they have any real control over their lives, and have surrendered all initiative to government agencies and big business. The crazy ideas may at least partly be blamed on that fear and worry of things going downhill even more.

To have and enjoy liberty, we need to accurately assess the dangers and risks we face, and to take responsibility for our own actions. And as always, be prepared to deal with reality.
