Let us look at some common names and terms in modern American politics, with a sneer and maybe a laugh.
In politics, as in so-called health care and military affairs and education, words are twisted and their definitions perverted. Let us look at a few examples.
As we do so, recall what H.L. Mencken once wrote: “Government is a broker in pillage, and every election is a sort of advance auction sale of stolen goods.”
How appropriate for the 2024 elections!
The Democratic Party (sometimes called the Democrat Party) is neither democratic nor a party – in reality. It is perhaps the greatest powerful enemy of “democracy” in these States today: its daily actions and goals are designed to thwart and subvert democracy. And it is not really a political party: it is a strange (and growing stranger) cult.
The Democratic National Committee is really none of those things. See above for why they are not “democratic.” Nor are they “national” – the organization is staffed and controlled by denizens of the Deep State and the District of Criminals. With limited participation by various elites in New York, California, and Illinois. It is not a “committee” – it is a politburo in the Communist sense, an oligarchic governing council that deserves to be cast upon the ash heap of history.
As you, gentle reader, can recognize, we are following the analysis by historians of the so-called Holy Roman Empire: it was not really an empire, it was certainly not Roman in any way, and it was the opposite of Holy.
Lest we be accused of bias, let us look at the Grand Old Party: the Republican Party.
First, there is nothing “grand about it” – it is a squalid debating and money-raising society that deserves our contempt. Old? It is much younger than its primary claimed political opponent (the Dems): established in 1854 by refugees from the Communist rebellions in Europe and former Whigs and other malcontents. Party? Well, maybe, in the sense of a pity-party or a mindless, eating and drinking party that does no one any good except maybe sellers of hangover remedies and bondsmen. Its favorite tactic for responding to its Democratic rival (“me too, but later and slower and with more perks for donors”) demonstrates it is in no way an advocate of republican government. After all, a republic is an institution of limited powers, where the citizens govern for the public good but are restricted by laws of nature and nature’s God, particularly to recognize and protect the liberties of the people and the rights of minorities.
Back to Mencken’s wise words, here are some other quotes worth thinking about. Who do you think might have said these things.
“We know now that government by organized money is just as dangerous as government by organized mob.”
“Government does not tax to get the money it needs; government always finds a need for the money it gets.”
“Collecting more taxes than is absolutely necessary is legalized robbery.”
“You can’t get rich in politics unless you’re a crook.”
Guesses? Try this on: 1. FDR 2. RR (Reagan) 3. Calvin Coolidge 4. Harry S Truman
Shocked? Don’t be: hypocrisy is a necessary part of American politics; an essential character trait of politicians.
We leave this topic (for now) with a quote from Thomas Hill: “Republicans and Democrats accuse libertarians of stealing their votes. They think they have a claim to everything. They steal elections. They steal the fruits of our labors. They steal our futures and those of generations of unbord by spending like drunken sailors and passing the tab to someone else. How dare they criticize libertarians.”

Let us call a spade a spade
