No, it is because government is spending us all into poverty: borrowing money ad infinitum, and pumping more and more Federal Reserve Notes (paper and electrons) into the economy while the supply of goods and services is able to only gradually increase. And the supply of goods and services is also hampered by all the people who do not want to work at a job that actually provides needed (and wanted) goods and services.
We know, that is a lot less persuasive and palatable than the idea that corporations and their bosses (not just CEOs but also boards) are doing it all on their own. Not saying they are innocent, but they could not do it without the active assistance of the governments – federal and State: which profit far more than any corporation or private business.
And of course, the hidden message in this is that the solution (someone to stop them) is government: government regulations, price freezes, taxing the “excess profits,” and other measures beloved by both Democrats and Republicans. As a century of history shows. “Vote for me, and I will stop the mega-corp CEOs and take away their ill-gotten gains.”
Absolute nonsense.
There is little or no indication that either The Donald or Kammie will have a regime and that Republican or Democratic control of Congress will take any action that will end or even significantly reduce inflation.
Why? Because they will continue to be addicted to spending. And whether that spending uses actual tax revenue or borrowing, it is fueling inflation: too many dollars chasing an insufficient amount of goods and services. And they will continue to pass and enforce new laws and regulations that drive up the cost of those goods and services.
That said, although inflation will continue, we suspect that it will be far worse in a Kammie regime – especially since she will be trying to buy a second term in office. And will seek more and more regulations to control (and punish) us all. But it will be bad enough under a second Trump regime to destroy many families and businesses.
And of course, the FedGov will continue to lie about inflation. The internet makes it easier to recognize the lies simply by comparing prices online from two, five, ten, and twenty years ago. But only if people look.
Of course the post above blaming business is a lie – although some mega-businesses always take advantage of opportunities provided by stupid government actions. First, small businesses as well as large businesses do this: and not always because they really want to. Even non-profit businesses are not in business to lose money. That is purely a privilege of government and some charities.
But the greatest lie is that now there is no one who can stop them.
To stop businesses, big or small? That is the power of a consumer, a customer. You don’t like their prices, then don’t buy from them: and tell them why. Prices are driven by demand as much as by supply and costs of production and distribution.
Accept some inconvenience and even privation to exercise your power. You don’t like your Kroger or Albertson’s store charging you $2.50 or $2.95 for a 20-ounce loaf of bread? Go to Dollar Tree and buy that loaf for $1.25. Or bake your own: the cost of the amount of flour in that loaf is still only a few pennies. Ditto for hamburger and every other kind of food. Don’t like paying $100/month for that “cable TV” subscription? Just stop – and explain why. Don’t want to pay $2.50 for 20 ounces of Coca-Cola or Pepsi? Or $3.50 for a Starbucks latte? Buy store brands, or better yet, make your own tea or coffee at home or in your workplace. You don’t need a $500 coffee maker. It may not taste quite as good or be what the influencers do, but it provides the same caffeine and liquid your body craves.
It is harder with government, of course, but the hit dog barks: don’t just tell your “elected representatives” you won’t play their game anymore. Tell the bureaucrats, tell your neighbors, tell the media, and tell those you do business with. Again, be prepared to pay a price, a penalty: do without some things and reduced amounts of others.
Does your township or town or city need another skateboard park? Another golf course? Another fancy “welcome to …” sign? Do their employees need another 5% or 10% raise when you get no raise? They can suffer, as well – but in recent years usually don’t suffer much if at all. But times can change.
Above all, spread the word: we are sick and tired of government-fired inflation. Of working more and more for less and less. Of being robbed blind. Not just by big corps in bed with politicians, but by the politicians and the governments they run.

Who is to blame?
