The FedGov has warned Iran against attempting to assassinate The Donald, as reported in the Washington Examiner recently. This is supposedly in retribution for Trump ordering (or allowing) the killing of a Persian Revolutionary Guard general while in office. The tale has been going around for several weeks now: NPR and the Politico even claim that Iran has a “hit list” of former Trump aides. House Speaker Johnson says that would be an act of war.

Do you suppose that the idea that Iran is behind the Trump attacks ( these attempted assassinations) is a red herring?

Now, we are not saying that Iran would not love to see him dead. Certainly, it would be no surprise that the insane, fanatic Ayatollahs and their minions are not trying to do so: for many reasons.

After all, the FedGov (and presumably all Fifty States, except possibly Michigan) are the Great Satan. And as compared to say, Obummer and Uncle Joe, The Donald in a second term might make us the even Greater Satan. After all, Kammie is likely to be far more friendly to Iran et al. than the MAGA-meister, no? (Although they might find that Vance as a Marine might not handle well them offing his boss.)

But honestly, this Iran connection is a distraction. There are more than enough home-grown American nutjobs right up to the highest levels of both the Democratic and Republican parties that fear Trump and want him out however. They probably don’t care which way he is neutralized: dead, crippled, imprisoned, or whatever.

Maybe it is just a case of “will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest.”

Or is it someone echoing Caiaphas, back in AD33 (high priest when Jesus was tried) who said to the Sanhedrin, “You know nothing at all. Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.” (We are not comparing The Donald to our Savior. Grin!!)

We are hearing and reading a constant drumbeat of what an evil monster Donald Trump is: Nazi, fascist, lusting after using American troops against Americans, imprisoning his opponents and so forth. (Indeed, several celebrities have outright statyed that they expect to be imprisoned by him if he is elected.) He is accused of having manipulated not just the 2016 and 2020 elections but this 2024 election as well! It will be the “end of democracy” if he is able to steal the election this year. And of course, he is a convicted criminal!

This isn’t Caiaphas sitting back and letting Pilate and the Romans nail Jesus to the cross: this is close to having these millions of progressives and Democrats – and hundreds of Republican never-Trumpers and ex-Trump officials – grabbing hold of the rope and pulling the guy off his white horse to dangle from the tree! When we are talking about people like Clintons and Obamas and Pelosis and the like, their hands are already wet with innocent blood – what is one more or two or ten thousand?

(And yes, we here at TPOL do recognize that Trump has blood on his own hands after his first term as Massa.)

Now, the question may be, do all these people actually believe the garbage they are spouting? That is probably irrelevant at this point. There are certainly hundreds, even hundreds of thousands of people who probably do believe this nonsense. And we know, human nature being what it is, that at least some of those are willing to kill to prevent these touted horrors. And of that number there are those who have the skills and resources to do so. And the fanaticism to do so, as one would-be Trump killer has already demonstrated.

So let us ask: just how many conspiracies exist which have, as their goal, eliminating The Donald? Would it be irrational to say that there are far more likely to exist that are right here in the Fifty States than likely to be in Tehran, Moscow, Peking, or even Brussels and London?

But by raising this boogeyman of Iran being behind the attempts, it further confuses the situation. And gives one or more conspiracies some room to maneuver. In large part by distracting whatever people are left in the FBI, CIA, and the rest of the Deep State who still have some sense of duty to the Constitution, to liberty, to freedom?

Just asking.
