Preparing for the unexpected

The uncertainty of life is never more apparent than we find as we approach two months of Trump 2.0. And the end of the winter season. And the fifth anniversary of the Lockdown, the second phase of the Pandemic Panic and its tyranny in the States (thanks to Paradigm for reminding us of that evil anniversary.)

The Donald has completely turned much of our world upside down. As complex and amazing as the year of 2024 was, 2025 already may be exceeding it. It is clear that he and his advisors spent the 3+ months between Election Day and Inauguration Day planning and preparing. No one – however much they hate Trump, Vance, Musk, et al. – can say that the new leadership did not hit the ground running!

Around the world, of course, we see this year is chaotic, but especially here in the States. Even in places like Wyoming and South Dakota. Too many things are on-again, off-again, with a few surges here and there.

What has gone on this winter economically, politically, and even weather-wise? Nothing that most people would have predicted or expected. We are caught up in an amazing string of events that, of course, have people worried. Ask yourself: are you prepared for more? It almost certainly is coming.

Good for them! People should be worried. We all need to be prepared for whatever may be coming – and forget about the so-called prophets who predict either extreme. From total collapse to a new “golden age.”

It is hard, of course, to both ignore the screams of those with Trump Derangement Syndrome and (seriously) those who are nearly worshippers of The Donald. Whether the ill (and loud) are on radio or podcasts. Whether they are in DC or NYC or California – or Ontario (including Ottawa) or Ukraine or London. Especially the ones with bullhorns in the streets or on social media. (Is social media now a partial equivalent to streets – and the Woke (and others) and their posts equivalent to street mobs?)

Some things are very clear, however.

It appears that few people today – and certainly not many in the media, the blogosphere, and most of government and politics – understand how bargaining and negotiating work. Or how The Donald and his surrogates do it. So we constantly see whiplash as people respond to Trump’s announcements, boasts, and offers.

The total irrationality of the leadership and more and more of the run-of-the-mill activists of the so-called Democratic Party is more and more obvious as they bloviate about the evils of the GOP and especially MAGA. Even more so when we see how they push transgenderism, open borders, and more.

Not that the GOP is any less crazy – much less exhibiting any evidence of competence to lead – much less serve. Their fear of virtually everything is hopefully not catching. Especially the fear of Russia, China, and the Woke madmen and women (transgender or not) of their political opponents.

Which brings us to the conclusion that the one thing human government, including politicians, bureaucrats, and activists, should never be allowed to do is to govern. To run a town, a county, a city, or a State. Much less an entire nation and society, or heaven forbid, a world.

Much of what is happening right now – including many of the actions of the Trump regime – is doing the same thing over and over again when it has not worked the first dozen or so times. True madness.

Which brings us full circle to our point: we must prepare for the unexpected. Constantly, but especially right now.
