As we here at TPOL understand it, Karmelo Anthony is the high school student who murdered a fellow student by stabbing him to death, apparently because he was “afraid.” (Excuse me, “person of interest” in the stabbing death.)
So far, it seems that people have donated nearly half a million to his “defense fund.” But it is claimed that his family used $400 K of it to buy a new house. Presumably fortified?
We don’t know how many people have donated how much to the family of the murdered classmate to pay for funeral expenses and help them buy what they need to defend themselves against people who want to hit on the family of “white supremacist bullies.”
One suspects that there is something about Texas – or at least East Texas – that causes brain damage to black politicians – and perhaps people in general. The water? The sunshine? Horny toad venom?
(We are reminded of General Phil Sheridan’s famous quip, “If I owned Texas and Hell, I would rent out Texas and live in Hell.”)
Texas does have more than its share of insane and clueless politicians in office.
Who can forget the late Sheila Jackson Lee and Sylvester Turner, or the present congresscrittur Jasmine Crockett. We can go even further back, to Barbara Jordan. Their rants and crazy speech could fill entire books. We realize that such insanity is not restricted to Democrats, black politicians, or female politicians who are “progressive.” But at the same time… it has been nearly 10 years since Georgia congresscrittur Hank Johnson publicly showed his compassion (and total lack of a clue) by stating his concerns that too many Marines might cause the island of Guam to “tip over and capsize.” Not just in public, but in a House committee hearing!
But, however bonkers these politicians are, we think that the real problem is shown by the tens of thousands of people who have shelled out their own money (voluntarily, we presume) to show their support for “King Karmello.”
Apparently, this scofflaw and killer are to many people an example of “Black Excellence.”
But then we dare not forget that thousands of people are also digging into their pockets and burning up their keyboards in support of suspect Luigi Mangione, who killed Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthCare in what he called a “symbolic takedown.”
Our point? A republic – even one that has morphed into a “democracy” – cannot tolerate the results of massive numbers of crazy people with little or no sense of morality being able to vote more of their kind into office. Especially given the insanely vast amount of power that has been bestowed on those they tap to “lead” and “represent” Americans. Sooner or later – and probably quite soon – the madness will lead to collapse. And indeed, it is hard (and maddening) not to believe that is their goal: to create chaos and cause civilization to collapse. (Or at least, what most people think of as civilization.)
Of course, humanity has always had madmen (and women) amongst us. Starting with the guy who killed his brother with a rock because God preferred his brother’s sacrifice to his own. And continuing through the ages to include mass madness. People who submit to a king who is going to build a tower clear to heaven. People who give their children to priests to sacrifice on the red-hot arms of a bronze idol. People who stand on the banks of the Mississippi and watch as their priests offer hundreds of women as sacrifices by slitting their throats and burying them in a mass grave – to something. People who rip out their own throats or guts to atone for losing face or failing the emperor. Synophantic courtiers who tell the king he is so powerful he can command the waves to cease rolling in to the shore.
Such madness leads rational people – like Mama Liberty – to support the idea of “self-government” because even that much government is very, very difficult. And the last thing we want is the nutcases around us trying to govern us and thousands or millions of other people.
Yet we, as a people, do so. Madness indeed.

Insanity ascendent?
