Folks, it ain’t just Congress … and “no American” includes even those who are members of these august bodies we call “legislatures” and “councils” and commissions. Every session seems to bring us that much closer to tyranny as they pass more and more laws, resolutions, and motions to take away more and more liberty.
Consider:
Rep. Laurel Libby of Maine shared a post on-line consisting of side-by-side photos of a male athlete last year competing as a man, and this year winning the girls’ state championship in pole vault.
For this offense, the Democrat-dominated Maine state legislature revoked her right to vote or even to speak until she apologizes. Naturally, the”progressives” (Regressives) expected her to comply. To grovel for forgiveness. That apparently included both Republicans and Democrats: after all, Maine is part of New England, closer today in philosophy to Canada and the UK than traditional American values of liberty and freedom.
But she didn’t! Instead, she made national news: she refused to comply. And she squawked loudly! Oh, my, the Maine legislature got all kinds of publicity. Surely unwelcome!
As several friends have shared, she got some good news this week. The Nine Nazgul (the SCOTUS) actually did an emergency intervention. Her appeal is continuing, but the Nazgul (well, seven of the nine) restored her voting rights. (Any guesses who dissented? Of course, that “wise Latina” Sonia Sotomayor and that “trailblazing legal mind of Jamaican heritage” Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented.
But it seems to be pretty cut and dried. The US Constitution says that all of the States are guaranteed a republican form of government. Ms. Libby’s legal counsel told the court: “Libby and her district had no vote on the State’s $11 billion budget, had no vote on a proposed constitutional amendment, and will have no vote on hundreds more proposed laws including — most ironically — whether Maine should change its current policy of requiring girls to compete alongside transgender athletes.”
Way to go, Maine legislature! Uncle Adolf would be so proud of you. Together with Honest Abe, Karl Marx, and Mao. Ensure that your evil tyranny is perpetrated regardless of niceties of a republic (or as you probably call it, “democracy.”) We have been warned since biblical and Greek times that democracy generally deteriorates into tyranny and dictatorship.
Of course, Maine is hardly alone in this demonstration of monstrous evil.
