The recent news of how the US Department of Energy has figured out that the SARS virus was developed from and escaped from a Chinese government “health” lab in Wuhan is bouncing back and forth.
The FBI claims that they told us that a year or more ago.
Various government agencies at all levels still claim this is false. And some even claim that the reason for people NOT believing it came from a Chinese lab is The Donald. Surprised they don’t blame W (George W Bush) also.
But one thing we must learn (again) from this: GOVERNMENT LIES.
Indeed, every part of modern government seems like it is just another agency of MINITRUE.
As we pointed out in a commentary a few months ago, once more, we see the evil hand of government in causing and prolonging human suffering – and in killing people. Last time, we talked about Alzheimer’s disease. But although we’ve being pointing out that was the case with the COVID-19 pandemic for several years, that scourge is still with us.
But where are the lynch mobs? The post-apocalyptic mob lynching the poor, innocent, knowledge-seeking scientists because it was science (particularly government scientists and their idiotic political master) that created the situation which is busy destroying our world.
They seem to be too busy going after the likes of Scott Adams (creator of Dilbert) to destroy his business. (The screenshot from WLEX touts the Herald-Leader, a newspaper, proclaiming its dedication to fighting hatred and bigotry, which Mr. Adams too was speaking out against. Just on the part of the wrong, protected people. Well, the paper was at least partly right: their readers deserve better. From the Herald-Leader.)

That, of course, is yet another way of lying. MINITRUE at work. Twisting Scott’s words to castigate him as “racist.” As some have pointed out, journalism used to be a watchdog of government. Today, it is government’s lapdog, and imitates its master: it lies and causes and prolongs human suffering and death.
Again, we point out: It seems that this corruption, fraud, double-dealing, insider “research” is something that deserves punishment. How many people died prematurely and suffered needlessly because these pieces of work lied, helped/ignored others in their lies, and displayed all the ethics and morals of a pimp getting the money for a new gold Mercedes?
As to punishment – is the death penalty too much to ask for? Or is it too little? Perhaps the punishment would be to make them live long enough – and in sufficient distress – to understand what they have done to the victims of their corruption.
This immoral behavior is tied directly to government: a lust for government money stolen from taxpayers, and intended to let government goons proclaim how important such funding and therefore their own positions and powers are. Media – journalists – too have this lust for money and power.
And they seem to share yet another objective: the goal to trash and change society to something even more evil than what we have now. Something like Nineteen-Eighty-Four, in fact.
“GOVERNMENT LIES”
Indeed it does.
But one of the lies that isn’t coming from government is that “the US Department of Energy has figured out that the SARS virus was developed from and escaped from a Chinese government ‘health’ lab in Wuhan.”
That lie is coming from other sources.
The US Department of Energy issued a “low-confidence” assessment that the “lab leak” hypothesis was the most likely explanation.
Or, to put it in English, someone at DoE decided to promote an evidenceless claim for some political reason, without actually pretending to have “figured out” that that evidenceless claim is true.

Indeed, Tom. The “other sources” are no more to be trusted than the government ones. And indeed, the sources (despite strong evidence of collusion) can’t get their stories straight, either. Some sources say DoE’s “assessment” is “low-confidence” (same as the alleged FBI “assessment” months ago, and others claim it is a higher probability assessment. Who knows? One of our constant themes right now seems to be “put not your trust in princes” – whether they are government or non-government.
One question we have here at TPOL is “Why is DoE doing assessments of the origins of diseases?” Seems to be a bit outside their normal scope of action, doesn’t it? And like unto the first, why is China responding to the FBI assessment but not the DoE claim?
Any thoughts?
