Omelets and eggs – some thoughts on government

I believe that it was Napoleon Bonaparte who first made the callous comment that “it takes breaking eggs to make an omelet” to justify the killing and dying of warfare. It has been applied to many other situations. I am sure that the Khymer Rouge, Mao’s thugs in China, Lenin and Stalin in Soviet Russia, said something similar when starving kulaks, leading the Cultural Revolution, and cleansing Cambodia of undesirable people.

The recent decision by the Woke City of Seattle to send unarmed “crisis responders” (reported here) instead of armed police to “mental crisis calls” has triggered some thoughts. We seem to be experiencing yet another example.

Seattle’s social justice warrior mentality is already (if not constantly) in the news. The latest is their airport making all their restrooms into “multiuse, all-gender” facilities.(Bluntly, men and women, boys and girls, will all be using the toilet at the same time. Don’t know what they did to the urinals – is that a form of “male privilege?”)

Both of these actions exhibit the lack of care for what I will callously call the “minions” of government: the rank-and-file, the front-line. And point out this is nothing new: even if Alexander “the Great” led from the front, it was the buck privates in the phalanxes that generally were in the most danger and paid the penultimate (and probably ultimate) price for Alexander’s conquests. We can see this all through history. Yes, the Dritte Reich murdered millions of Jews, gypsies, and others: but it was the landser, the privat soldat, and of course, the German “volk” – the civilians – who paid the most in lives, blood, and of course, treasure.

In general here in the States, the police and observers agree that perhaps the most dangerous activity local police (and sheriff’s deputies) deal with is mental crisis calls – generally domestic violence response. Yet Seattle has decided that its public health mental crisis responders are going to be put into that level of harm’s way – and with nothing beyond their own hands (and feet) to defend themselves against the most violent of “mental crisis” cases. It is their own people, their own supporters, that they put at risk. They are the eggs that Seattle is using to make politically-correct omelets. In the airport, it is not just passengers and visitors that run the risks of nutcases raping them in the toilets: it is airport and airline staff that face that danger and more.

Seattle is far from the only American city cracking a few eggs. Indeed, I wonder if there is any major city in the States that does not do something like this, for the sake of political correctness and to “go along to get along” with the insanities of the left (and, for that matter, the right).

Political correctness seems to have that effect: people don’t think that they could be the eggs broken and whipped up to pour into the pan. When you combine the craziness of political correctness, brutal lack of compassion, and the power of government, disaster is sure to follow.
