It is easy to despair at the way people behave and what they say.

Consider this recent MSN news story headlined “Joe Biden sends clear message on transgender sports.” Read it and tell us what you think.

To us here at TPOL, the only thing clear about this message (courtesy of his pretty little press secretary) is that all is normal: the current regime in DC is out to lunch and out at sea.

I’d like to say that they don’t know what they are doing, but I think they do. They are working towards a one-party state (not that we cannot argue that we have that in effect at the Federal level and many States). Part of their effort to achieve that includes doing everything they can think of to confuse, demoralize, and divide Americans. One of those ways is the political and socio-economic fad of “transgender” rights and advocacy.

I think that most lovers of liberty – free-trade anarchists, even minarchists – are perfectly willing to let anyone self-identify as anything they please. Take your pick: one of 85 dozen different sexes (genders?), fifty different textures of sexuality. Furries, wizards, warlocks, lizards, mimes, whatever. Just don’t try to force people to support, endorse, finance, validate, or even treat them like whatever it is they identify as. Indeed, freedom of speech means that I can even refuse to recognize someone with XY chromosomes, identify and behave as a promiscuous heterosexual male as a “man” for whatever reason I choose. (For example, a coward, or a pervert, or a predator.) Of course, I must be prepared to accept the consequences of my choice of words. Even a punch to the nose. But should that be administered by the government? Not in a land where my right to speak freely is supposedly guaranteed by the Constitution.

But that is not good enough for either of the two major political groupings in these Fifty States. No, no. I must promote and give special privileges to those who identify – especially as something not “normal” in our society. At least, that is what the Woke social justice warriors tell me.

If (when) they get their way? If I fail to subscribe to (and praise) someone who claims to be a mermaid, for example. I am to be punished by government edict for that failure. On the other hand, the so-called conservatives want to punish me for just humoring someone by honoring their chosen identity, whether I believe it is real or not.

In the meantime, our freedom of speech is constrained by a natural fear of government coming down with a heavy hand on us if we do not say the right words. And of course, all the hangers-on: the unions (especially the teachers’ and bureaucrats’ unions), the education establishment, and multi-nationals.

But the long-term objective seems to be to destabilize, even destroy, normalcy and so frighten us in to accepting – even demanding – such total government control that their goals of gaining power and wealth are given to them. To put it another way, so that the parasites win.

History shows it has happened time and time again: the democracy decays into mob rule, and in a panic as chaos descends, the people welcome and submit to a man on a white horse. They trade their liberty for supposed security and safety, which is properly called slavery. Is this not madness? Are we so blind?

In the land of the blind, it is not the one-eyed man who is king. Rather, he is hated and feared, and they strive to make him as disabled as everyone else. In a land of insanity, it is not the sane whom people turn to for help, but rather, they seek to make the sane go mad. And often it is those who are most crazy who get control. Can we not see the signs around us?

Are we going to slide into this slavery, this madness, this blindness? Or reject those for freedom, for truth, and for sanity? The choice is ours.
