In an interview on March 8th, a Woke and Democratic Representative (Wild of Pennsylvania) acknowledged there are people in the country who believe that abortion is “taking the life of a child, and the answer to that is, those people are not being required to have an abortion.”
I fear that I may understand this woman too well: her logic seems to be that “people believe that driving drunk may endanger and kill other people on the road, and they aren’t required to drive drunk.” Or perhaps, “some people believe that having sex with a child is child abuse, so they aren’t required to have sex with a child.” This implies that morality – committing violence against an innocent person – is all in the eye of the beholder. That it is really relative.
To put it crudely: It’s okay if you think it is wrong to rape someone. You aren’t required to rape them. But you can’t stop me from raping them just because you think it is wrong.
Of course, that is the attitude of government overall, is it not? It is wrong to kill a child, unless the child is killed in a bombing attack on the child’s parents or others. It is wrong to threaten violence to persuade someone to change their mind about political matters, unless it is government using that violence to do so. (Otherwise, it is terrorism, right?)
But speaking of terrorism? At least as government defines terrorism? We have a Breitbart story pointing out that the Biden regime seems to be accepting Cuban Communist branding Cuban dissidents as terrorists. Even people who are American citizens, politicians, and government employees. At least, as you read the convoluted story, it appears that Uncle Joe is not rejecting the Cuban branding. At the same time we have the UN and the BBC refusing to call Hamas a terrorist organization. They are now joined by Turkei, and Turkish President Erdogan. According to an old NPR story, Hamas: Government or Terrorist Organization?, if Hamas is a “legitimate” and “democratically elected” government, it cannot be a terrorist group! Oh my, the little grey cells do not seem to be connecting well.
Kind of odd, eh? Since many countries and groups are declaring that the State of Israel is a terrorist organization committing genocide in Gaza. Hamas (well, their health department) claims that the Israelis have killed nearly 30,000 people in Gaza. (The Israelis claim they’ve killed 13,000 “operatives” (a weasel word for terrorists) in Gaza.)
Using the dictionary definition, the Israeli government is indeed a terrorist organization. But so is Turkei’s government – indeed, I do not know if there are any governments that are not. (I don’t know, maybe Monaco? Andora?) Governments use force – violence and the threat of violence – to achieve political ends: to make people do what they tell them to.
Which brings us full circle back to the Woke Pennsylvania politician and her faulty reasoning. On multiple levels. “They don’t have to have an abortion.” But “they” (people who believe that abortion is murdering a human) would have to pay for someone else to have one, since government forces people to pay taxes and in turn pays for abortions under Medicaid (and no doubt Medicare). Or required to pay for it indirectly by insurance, which is mandated to include “reproductive care” included. And if you don’t pay “voluntarily” then nasty men (and women) with guns ultimately show up and drag you in front of a Nazgul and lock you up and/or rob you blind.
As libertarians and scriptural christians have been pointing out for many many years, morality is the same for governments as for individuals. If an individual or non-governmental organization can be terrorists, so can governments and government officials and employees. And violence (including justified or permitted killing) which is not self-defense is immoral: for any person, any entity, any organization. Whatever its purpose and whomever its target.

Severe mental disconnects, abortion and terrorism
