In what many characterize as an attempt by Uncle Joe’s puppet-masters to force The Donald’s new administration into open war with Russia in and over Ukraine, DC has told Ukraine it is okay to use US long-range missiles to attack targets in Russia itself.
So of course, Moscow has responded negatively, as reported in the Gateway Pundit: Russian forces now may use nuclear weapons to respond to non-nuclear attacks, if the survival and integrity of the Russian Federation is threatened. Putin seems to still view this as defensive and not offensive. Which has been the American (well, FedGov) position for decades. (Although that is supposedly denied today.)
Indeed, Ukraine has already fired five US-made and FedGov-supplied missiles into Russia. It is reported that none of them hit their targets: four destroyed completely and one damaged and crashing (causing some damage on the ground). These weapons were specifically of a type specified by the new Russian policy.
In response, the Russians have used a longer-range weapon of their own: an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) (incorrectly claimed to be a dreaded ICBM by many). It seems, based on the fear we read between the lines, to be an effective warning to the West. Whether heeded or not.
One member of the Trump family has already stated that this is part of an attempt by the present DC regime to get WWIII started before The Donald takes office. This might be difficult to argue against: but perhaps this is a way to delay or prevent him from taking office? That sounds crazy, but then so has much of the platform and actions of the never-Trumpers and the Democratic Party rulers.
Even those pundits and commenters that see this action (both by DC and Moscow) as pushing the world (or at least the FedGov and Russia) to unrestricted war, still refuse to accept that Russia’s war against the Ukraine was a direct and intended result of American and NATO actions for a decade and more. And largely a matter of what Moscow saw as a defensive action that they had to take.
Admittedly, in doing so, they imitated their self-declared enemy. Consider American involvement in Indochina over thirty years. And the entire mess in the Balkans in the 1990s. We might even point out the hash DC made of Afghanistan and Mesopotamia (Iraq) for more than a quarter-century. Not that DC used nukes, but it is a matter of degree, not kind.
Some commenters blame Russia for accepting combat troops from North Korea and use this to justify the escalation by the West. And at the same time, condemn Moscow for using these weapons as a warning.
DC and London – and Brussels – continue to be hypocritical and continue to push Russia while refusing to recognize that Ukraine is a fascist regime which tyrannizes its own people, increasingly at the expense of the West and its massive funding of a proxy war.
We can only hope that Trump is able to do what he claims and end the war with a decent peace – assuming he is given any time at all to do so by the chickenhawks in Congress and the current administration. It is bad enough that Ukrainians (and Russians) have to suffer and die thanks to the stupid actions of Bush II, Obama, Trump himself, and Biden: we don’t want Americans and Brits and Poles and more to suffer and die.
