Our readers may not know much about Sheetz. (Neither did we until they were targeted a few months back by the Feds.) It turns out to be a fairly big deal up in the Northeast, especially in Pennsylvania: 700 stores in 7 States. Despite the fact that Uncle Joe likes them (he famously bought snacks during one of his failed campaign for POTUS back in April), it appears that the FedGov commissars do not. (And of course, in theory, they answer to Uncle Joe. And love Missy Kammie.)
“According to the lawsuit, Sheetz has maintained a longstanding practice of screening all job applicants for records of criminal conviction and then denying them employment based on those records,” the EEOC said in a news release.
Those screenings resulted in 14.5 percent of blacks being turned down for jobs, compared with 13.5 percent of “multiracial” applicants, 13 percent of “Native Americans”, and nearly 8 percent of whites. The EEOC did not accuse Sheetz of active racism, but said federal law prohibits hiring practices that impact minorities differently than non-minorities.
Congratulations to the FedGov agency: like many others, not only is it weaponizing the evils of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI), it is actively working to destroy businesses.
But of course, that is one of the major tasks of the FedGov’s alphabet soup (spoiled and rotted!) today and for the past four years. (And certainly long before that.) In the sick and bitter world of the FedGov, even a business with 700 locations is smaller than they (and their financial supporters in the multi-nationals) really like. Especially if they are so daring as to say that they have standards that they want new employees to meet.
Standards? At least a whiff of intelligence, and no whiff of nasty unwashed body odor or the stench of (legal or illegal) pot, perhaps. A lack of a criminal record, particularly for sticky fingers and threatening or abusing others. Things that the human (or almost human) products of ghettos and barrios often have in their backgrounds. No, this is not being racist: it is looking at simple fact. Bad environments tend to breed bad people. There are always many who are able to rise above their beginnings, but a majority are unlikely to be folks you want to work beside and around – whatever their skin color, their English skills, or their ancestry.
You know, the Constitution says that free people have a right to associate with people of their own choosing – to freely assemble. The other side of that coin, to the disgust of many, is the right to refuse to associate with other people whom we find fault with. Not because of their color or all those things, but because they are obnoxious and a threat to life or property or well-being.
But the FedGov doesn’t want that, as behavior like that – free association – tends to create peaceful societies, more responsible people, and other things that militate against having government nannies abound and grow fat as parasites on us all.
