Four years of outrageous lies

Today is 6 January 2025. Four years ago, an unprecedented series of events took place in the District of Columbia. What has followed in 1461 days of lies, lies, and more lies.

The lies didn’t all come from the Democrats, the Never-Trumpers, or others except the Trumpistas. But the vast majority did. And the partisans of The Donald had their share of tall tales and falsehoods. But the greatest offenders are certainly the mainstream media. No lies are justified, but the baldness of the lies invented by, and promoted and spread by, the media stagger the imagination.

Of course, the lies about this “insurrection” are far from the only falsehoods we have heard for the last four years. And were hardly the first. But the sheer scale – and the short-term effects – of these have severely damaged our society here in the Fifty States. And led to harmful events and actions around the world. Prior to 2020 and the massive election turmoil – of which 6 January 2021 was a mere afterword – trust and confidence in American governments (especially the FedGov) were already low. But what has been done by politicians, government agencies and entities, the media, and the partisan shills of all these groups, has caused an even greater loss of confidence in American governing and political institutions.

From the point of view of lovers of liberty, this is not necessarily a bad thing. Indeed, perhaps we should argue that these things all have contributed and will contribute to restoring liberty. Liberty not just in the Fifty States, but perhaps around the world.

Why?

Because government is, at best, a shill game – a web of deceit and a parasite that ultimately destroys the society – not just but especially individuals – that it claims to exist to serve. And has been since Nimrod. And indeed, since the independence of the American States. Amazingly (and by God’s grace), the Continental Congress did enough things right – with the help of hundreds of thousands of individuals – to gain freedom from the tyranny of Parliament and King. But it was success marred by many bad decisions and actions – typical actions of governments that continue today, daily. And at a more rapid place.

The Articles of Confederation were bad, but many of us see that “hologram of liberty” – the federal Constitution – to be little better. And still, at its heart, the blueprint that has allowed the incredible maze and suffocating form of governments we have today possible. While certainly better than what 95% of humanity has suffered under for 6,000 or so years, it is far from being optimal. Or even really tolerable.

The lies about January Sixth, when added to the usual constantly-repeated lies of the FedGov, State governments, and all the various forms of tribal and local government, have made the lives of Americans far worse than our lives should be. And for some Americans, the lies have destroyed their lives and those of their families.

Of course, these negative effects are mostly the intended consequences of actions that were designed to give more power and more wealth to a certain faction of our population: the Powers That Be, whatever political labels they apply to themselves. Fortunately, due to stupidity (on their part and that of others), natural and human events, and again, Providence, many of these actions failed.

Even so, the lies about 6 January 2021, and the entirety of 2020: the COVID Pandemic Panic, the election, and the vast sums of money (fake or not) wasted; have made our lives for the past four years much more miserable than they could have been.

The return of The Donald to 1600 PA will not magically correct this – and he will continue to make serious mistakes as he did in his first term as Massa. But we can hope – and should pray and work – that the process of total government domination will not just be slowed but reversed to some degree.

It is at least hopeful that some events today will “commemorate” this 4th Anniversary of the protests and brief occupation of what was once called “The People’s House” by many of those people. Not an insurrection, not an attempted coup, but a protest against corruption, arrogance, and worse tyranny in government. But an effort seemingly instigated and made feasible by the same corrupt and power-hungry politicians who have lied about those events ever since.

Among those commemorations? Ms. Harris herself will have to preside over the certification of the Electoral College voting today. In her case, the validity of the state-by-state actions that led to the casting of votes in the Electoral College seems far stronger than what Mr. Pence accepted in 2021. And in our cousins and neighbors to the North, the long painful nightmare of the Justin Trudeau’s regime is formally coming to an end. Will Trudeau’s resignation lead to a significant restoration of liberty in the Dominion? Honestly, that is unlikely. But still, Canadians can go to sleep tonight with more hope for the future. Just as Americans can, if we make it another two weeks to 20 January and the end of Uncle Joe’s regime, founded on a plethora of lies and corruption.
