If you take all the machinery in the world and dump it in the ocean, within months more than half of all humanity will die and within another six months they’d almost all be gone; if you took all the politicians in the world, put them in a rocket, and sent them to the moon, everyone would get along fine.
We, as fans of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, call this the “B Ark solution.” Especially if we add the corporate, government, and religious bureaucrats and politicians to that group. For example, the UK’s House of Commons, portrayed in an X posting:
Why? Most of these groups actively seek to stymie human progress. At best, they hinder it. At worst, they destroy progress for the sake of their own power and gratification. The 280+ days of the political campaigns and the month-long election “day” we endured in 2024 demonstrate this danger.
(We shudder to think what the 2028 campaign will be like: long, nasty, and brutal, no doubt.)
As does the stupid games being played by both Republicans and Democrats in the months since the election and in the two-plus months since The Donald moved back to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. And for that matter, the nonsense flowing from Fifty State capitols and uncountable numbers of courthouses and town halls.
When we consider all of the lies and slogans (generally also a bunch of lies) that politicians and their kind have thrown at us over the years, it is clear that much of human misery in the 21st Century is due to their antics. The rise of Trump 2.0 has pointed that fact out even more.
For one thing, it is not always (or even commonly) the action that causes various groups to go ballistic, it is who is taking the action. Of course, anytime that money is sucked away from the parasites that have long lived on the government (taxpayer’s) teat, they are going to scream. (We hear this every hour, these days.) Whatever company prints victim cards is certainly enjoying a boom.
So…
What do we do to solve the world’s problems?
To be tactful, slap the politicians and governments of the world upside the head repeatedly until they stop behaving like idiots – and stop treating them like they are worth much (if anything).
Government and common sense do not go along.
And this does not mean that all the world’s problems will go away when we get rid of these parasites. What it does mean is that we will have a much better chance of solving all of our ills peacefully and quietly – and minus the parasites – at a fraction of the cost.
