Murder most foul… not in today’s media

It seems that every day we have yet another example of how corrupted, how disgusting the media (press) has become in 2026.

There are several very recent examples. Let us share them.

Many readers will recall the murder of the young woman, Iryna Zarutska, in North Carolina. The Blaze recently reported on the psychiatric evaluation of her killer. Consider these headlines:

  • The headline: Homeless schizophrenic man accused of stabbing Iryna Zarutska to death is ‘incapable to proceed’ to trial.
  • The very first sentence: The man on trial for allegedly stabbing to death a Ukrainian immigrant without provocation
  • Aaaand, the kicker: Video from the light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina, captured the moment that Decarlos Brown Jr. allegedly brutally stabbed Iryna Zarutska in the neck, according to prosecutors.

We are unsure of what this means, but we fear it means that the killer will ultimately be released back into society, perhaps after some “treatment” that is based on sketchy and unproved theories. And therefore may result in another Iryna bleeding to death from stab wounds while onlookers do nothing but take pictures.

Not who states the guy “allegedly brutally stabbed Iryna.” It is “according to the prosecutors.”

Apparently, AI/CGI has gotten so good that even a right-wing rag like The Blaze has to provide weasel words. The entire video from the train could be a complete fake, right? We must, absolutely must, avoid any possible reason that someone might claim that a jury or judge be led to pre-judge this monster in human form who saw fit to stab a woman to death because… because why?

The only reason to have a trial, in our humble opinion, is to determine if there is any possible way that young woman might have provoked the attack on her. And whether or not the killer really is in some way not able to be held fully accountable for his horrific action. And to confirm that this really is the guy in the video: seemingly obvious but still… In today’s AI world, we do want to be careful.

That trial, we submit, should be in the hands of a jury and not some puffed-up judge who wrongly has the power to determine someone is incapable of proceeding to trial. It should be a fully-informed and properly-powered jury that makes those calls, and sees that justice is done. This unilateral call by a black-robed government employee is no more right than if the cops had pulled the man our of the train car and executed him on the spot.

But we also chide the media, including the supposedly conservative-libertarian Blaze. It is not the prosecutors that “allege” this guy stabbed the woman to death: it is recorded on video. And the events are not unclear, the way (say) who killed JFK is unclear from the video. We suggest that it is right to speak of this guy as “accused” but to water down the information still more makes no sense. And shows how politically correct and mealy-mouthed media is.

Over recent decades, we have seen this kind of nonsense from both courts and media more and more often. It disgusts people (or should) more and more. As well it should. Partly, as we frequently point out, it is the growing decay of the press that accounts for this: more and more the media depends on statements and recordings issued by government agencies or corporations without really verifying the accuracy and completeness of the information that the media publishes. And of course, there is the fear of losing readers and viewers, losing advertising revenue, and of course peer pressure.

We can no longer (if we ever could) trust the press, trust the government, or trust virtually any claim.
