Good afternoon!
Texas Senator John Cornyn asked Obama for FBI probe Of the VA, to have the FBI to lead the widening investigation into alleged wrongdoing at Veterans Affairs facilities across the country. This is stupid: he “asked” instead of simply having Congress pass a law, that he should beg the Fuehrer.
Now, I DO note that surprisingly, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has introduced a bill that would change the VA system from a purely socialist-system (government-owned, government-operated, taxpayer-paid) to a quasi one-payer system, where veterans could go to private health-care providers (under certain limits) and get care to be paid by the VA. This isn’t much but it is SOME improvement: the system would have been better if it had been this way from the beginning. Shucks, even patients of the Indian Health Service (IHS) can do this now.
In Sherman Texas, ‘Tase The Bitch’ Police beating death leads to a lawsuit. The conduct of municipal police in Sherman, Texas in a brutal incident that killed a woman last year has now elicited a lawsuit from the victim’s sister. Texas’ local sheriffs and police are doing more and more to foster the image of runaway tyrants eager and ALWAYS willing to kill another citizen, beat up another person, and refuse to accept any responsibility.
The lawsuit against Sriracha Hot Sauce Factory has been dropped; and the Irwindale (California) City Council has tabled the nuisance resolution. But never fear, someone else will come up with something else. These folks need to go ahead and move: I’d suggest Wyoming or the Dakotas.
It didn’t take long after the tragedy of the Oso, Wash., March mudslide for everyone to wonder: Should local officials have done more to prevent people from building in harm’s way? This is the question asked by Governing magazine, a BIG-time pro-statist/government publication. My first reaction of course is “PREVENT?” What power does government have to PREVENT people from building? What power SHOULD government have? Absolutely none. The article DOES address the real problem but tap dances around it. Government CREATED the problem with disasters by providing “free” aid not just to help DURING and immediately AFTER the disaster, but to rebuild over and over (and over) again: “free” money that is stolen from everyone else. The solution is NOT more bureaucracy, but LESS: end federal disaster programs and allow local communities and private organizations, together with voluntarily-contracted insurance firms, to provide for such, and let the market value of land under threat of mudslides, California fire-storms, river floods, hurricanes, and the like fall to where it should have already been.
The Supreme Court unanimously ruled against the Fuehrer’s Administration’s attempt to apply Federal terrorist charges to a case in which a jilted woman smeared some creepy substance on the door handle of her then-husband’s illicit lover. Thanks to Tim for this one: for once the Nazgul called it right, as once more we have an example of how the Fuehrer and his thugs use ANY excuse to attack and abuse people and gain ever more power over the individual citizen. This should NEVER have been a federal case, and indeed, the original judge (and jury, if there was one) should have laughed the DOJ out of the courtroom. Now, if we could just apply this kind of Nazgul slap-down of “prosecutoral overreach” to a couple thousand cases a year!
Mama’s Note: Would need to be more like a million cases a year to even make a dent in the tyranny. I’d suggest starting with all the EPA “wetland” and “endangered species” frivolous prosecutions.
Well, it seems that Google is being flooded with so-called ‘right to be forgotten’ requests: In just the first 24 hours claims could be filed, RT (Russia Today) reports Google received 12,000 requests from people who wanted certain information removed from the search engine, led by Germans after the EU’s highest court ruled search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo must allow people to have the ‘right to be forgotten.’ Sounds like a grand idea to me: I think I’ll file a request to about a dozen FedGov agencies, and now, if I could just get off “Cardholders’ Services” call lists… Seriously, do people really believe that Google will REMOVE that information, instead of just turning it over to the various EU police agencies (if they haven’t done that already)?
In the first few days of June, 73 have been killed and 50 wounded in that wonderful land of Mesopotamia. AntiWar.com reports that May has been the deadliest month so far this year. Antiwar.com compiled 2,249 fatalities, of which 1,075 were civilian and security member deaths. Another 1,953 people were wounded, including 87 militants. Again, I repeat, that there is no nation called “Iraq,” just people pretending one exists. And remember, that there are very few Americans or other westerners left: THIS is Muslim-on-Muslim violence, each demonstrating how “peaceful” and “submissive” THEIR brand is, and how much Arabs love one another. Not.
After nearly 40 years on the throne, King Juan Carlos I of Spain will be stepping down, the country’s prime minister said Monday. Crown Prince Felipe, 46, will succeed his father, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy announced in nationally televised address. Rajoy did not offer a reason for the king’s planned abdication, but his recent ill health is cited by many as a reason. This man “healed” Spain after the death of long-time dictator Franco, and bucked the trend of ending monarchies, but he was and is a Tranzi first and foremost: Spain is even more liberal in 2014 than France. Expect his son to continue to preside over the decay and collapse of a once-great nation.
My oh my, it appears that Boko Haram is attacking religions OTHER than christian. A bombing at a football pitch in Nigeria’s restive northeast has killed at least 40 people, in an area previously attacked by Boko Haram Islamists. The blast hit Mubi town in Adamawa state, one of three in the northeast which has been under a state of emergency for more than a year as Nigeria’s military has supposedly tried to crush Boko Haram’s five-year extremist uprising. I notice that few news outlets bother to report that Boko Haram is an Islamist organization dedicated to establish Shari’a law in Nigeria. I suspect that many of the “football fans” happened to be either apostate Muslims or “christians” even on a Sunday. At least this week, it does not seem that there has been a major attack on church meetinghouses. But I’m sure we’ll get more soon.
As we see more and more corporations making customers leave their weapons outside, and prohibiting employees from carrying, we find that being armed is still important and can save lives and property, as in this case. This store clerk is glad HIS convenience store is not a “gun-free zone.”
Mama’s Note: Seems to me that each person and business has to be free to choose for themselves. No business can “make” a customer leave their gun outside. The customer is free to leave and shop elsewhere. Nobody can be forced to work for someone who insists they work unarmed. Those are choices, and yes they can be mighty inconvenient choices, but choices they remain.
If a business decides to forgo having armed customers, that’s their right and their problem. If gun owners decide to shop there anyway, unarmed, that’s their right and their problem. Trying to force anyone else to accommodate their own preference either way is wrong and counterproductive.
