Mama’s Note: Maybe they should borrow some guns from the post office and shoot back…  Do they even have “rape whistles?”

Hmmm.  Apparently in the interests of being “kinder and gentler” the BP is less heavily armed at the border than everywhere else in the nation, but I notice that they claim that they do not have the armored vehicles capable of protecting them against this harassing fire.  Why? Apparently because all the heavily-armored vehicles coming back from Mesopotamia and Afghanistan are being surplussed off to state and local law enforcement agencies, to protect them against more serious threats:  the American people who use/sell recreational drugs and fail to pay library fines and parking tickets in a timely manner.  My suspicious mind also asks, are these shots really coming from the “cartels” or from the Mexican army?

Texas, at least, is taking this and other things seriously, despite cries of “border theater” by some. Governor Perry said Monday he is deploying up to 1,000 National Guard troops over the next month to the Rio Grande (Texas-Mexico border) to combat criminals that state leaders say are exploiting a surge of children and families entering the U.S. illegally. … He rejected suggestions that Texas was militarizing local communities by putting National Guard troops on the ground or that crime data along the border doesn’t justify additional resources. The deployment will cost Texas an estimated $12 million a month.  Texas IS a sovereign state, and most of its people – even those of Mexican heritage or with families on the south side of the Rio Grande – want it that way.  This is WHY there is a national guard, not to have readily-available bodies to throw away in Afghanistan or Mesopotamia, but to put their lives between those of their loved ones (and beloved places) and those who would attack, invade, and steal, whether they are “cartels” or the United Mexican States or the criminals we call the FedGov in DC.  The Border Patrol is just another tool of repression and control for DC, and Texas apparently has finally called a spade a spade and is not depending on someone 2,000 miles away in DC to protect the lives and property of Texans.

Yes, there is probably some theater involved in this, just as there is politics, and the State of Texas is not much better than DC when it comes to liberty and freedom; after all, it IS a government.  Volunteer “unorganized” militia is also deploying, and the TXARNG is made up of volunteers as well.  But the question remains: is it JUST the Rio Grande that needs to be protected from invaders and criminals?

The NSA is looking at our personal nudey photos, according to EagleRising.com.  Well, not mine nor Mama Liberty’s – we don’t HAVE any nude pictures to share.  The editors at ER make some comments about NSA telling us “Show us your junk and we’ll protect you,” which seems to also be the attitude of the TSA.  But this, though cute, misses the point. It is not the exposure of our bodies (or someone else’s) that should anger us and cause us to take action, it is the exposure of our personal and private business and other information, of intimacies of family life and what we do to make a living, that damages us so much.  And WE have allowed this, bit by bit.  The camel’s nose in the tent was the personal information for driver’s licenses (both commercial and personal), and on the Satan-spawned IRS tax forms.  Every year it has grown worse and worse, until today WE are not allowed to view our own medical records in many cases, without the doctor’s (and their keepers’) permission, but virtually any government agency can with a simple phone call.

Of course, I bet NSA wishes it had this sweet deal. It is only an increase in degree, not in kind, remember, but now we pay more to the highwayman for getting photographed in the buff and getting groped and having our personal belongings and data pawed. The Transportation Security Administration fee that gets added to the cost of an airline ticket more than doubles today, with passengers now paying $5.60 each way to finance X-rays, pat-downs and other forms of airport screening. The increase in the fee, from $2.50 each way, will generate an estimated $4 billion in additional funds over the next 10 years to pay for “airport security.” Connecting flights of four hours or more will be treated as separate flights, at a cost of $5 each.

France’s absurd new ‘Homemade’ Law handcuffs restaurants, while food critics are fined for negative comments.  France’s restaurants and French cooking are under attack. The enemy comes from within—and wears a white hat.  France cares not a whit about what customers want and are willing to pay for.  The President and Chamber of Deputies, anointed to be all powerful by the votes of the people, can dictate the every word on a menu and every piece of food in the kitchen.  But before we condemn Paris too much, we need to look at our own record.

Mama’s Note: Maybe they’d like to borrow Bloomberg for a while. He could straighten them out very quickly. He could probably get out of the country in time not to be lynched as well… unfortunately.

His attitude is much closer to that of the Eurotrash running that continent these days, that is certain.  Of course, having seen a few examples of high-end French cuisine (home-made or not), portion control certainly isn’t a problem with them.  And I suspect that few “real” French restaurants would demean themselves to serve “sugary drinks” in ANY size.

Mama’s Note: Can’t say I’ve ever had much exposure to actual French cooking, but my impression is that they use an awful lot of “sauce” of one kind or another, and I’ve never cared for such things. I like my food fresh, plain and very lightly seasoned. I have not even made “gravy” for many years, and come closest with a can of mushroom soup for a casserole. The French can keep all of their fancy stuff. I’ll take antelope steaks any day – and nobody had better even touch my “portion.”

At a South Carolina Food Lion (a chain of apparently sleazy supermarkets in the South), an employee saw it necessary to stick his nose into other people’s business, and called the cops on three children apparently locked in a car in the parking lot with no adult nearby.  The cops, just as nanny-state as the employee, proceeded to arrest the mother for cruelty to children, abandonment, and apparently failure to properly connect a car seat to the seatbelt.  Never mind that the car was running with the air conditioning on full blast as the children slept, and that their aunt was parked in the car next to them, while their mother went in to buy some first aid supplies.  The arrogance and Mrs. Grundy attitude of cops and businesses grows, even while observational skills deteriorate.

Mama’s Note: Wait a minute… this doesn’t track… If the aunt was in a car next to the kids, they did have “adult” nearby and were not abandoned… As usual, I suspect that not all the details were reported. But I fully agree that, absent immediate and lethal threat to the children, whatever did happen was nobody else’s business at all.
