Good morning. We usually fail to properly consider the impact of stupidity on human events and society. Here are some great examples.
Immigration and drought threaten California’s economy, according to an article published by NCPA. Twelve percent of the United States population lives in California, yet, staggeringly, over 30 percent of America’s welfare recipients are located in the state. Non-corporate recipients, at least. But I think the article does not get to the root of the problem. Both “excessive” immigration and drought are problems that can be dealt with by a healthy society and a sound economy, in which people can voluntarily do things together to solve problems. California’s problem is stupidity and greed and irresponsibility, especially as displayed by government. Government stupidly given control of too much of life and resources, and then government stupidly MANAGING those things until they are wiped out. Until the root problems are solved, ALL fixes will just push the consequences out further.
Lt. General warns that something big will happen On 9-11-2014. The retired officer, Thomas McInerney, is a military analyst for Fox, and suggested that the U.S. is in danger of suffering a devastating terror attack and should “go to DEFCON 1, our highest state of readiness and be prepared as we lead up to 9/11.” Look back to 2002 (year after Bloody Tuesday) and you will find this prediction over and over. Now maybe McInerney thinks he is not crying wolf, but I think he is telling Fox viewers what the network wants them to hear. If we need to go to DefCon 1, we need to pull ALL our troops and money back home and prepare. But we are too stupid to do so.
White House sets U.S. up for another foreign policy nightmare, or so says an influential Senate Democrat who called Monday for the Fuehrer to seek congressional approval before launching airstrikes against Islamic State militants (the Caliphate) in the Middle East. The call came after the White House refused to say whether it would await a congressional greenlight for further military action. More like a CONTINUING nightmare: or rather, SEVERAL. Let me see: Mesopotamia, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Ukraine, Mexico… where else? Stupid is as stupid does. Congress could stop this in a heartbeat by denying funding. But you KNOW they will not.
I discussed this some months ago, but it is still unresolved. EPA Region 8’s main office in Denver continues to have some VERY sick employees “vandalize” their offices in Downtown by smearing feces and menstrual blood all over the walls and floor and called in the Federal Protective Service (now part of DHS) to stop this, as more and more employees freak out. Seems that EPA has a real problem with their hiring and evaluation procedures. I guess the old joke poster “You don’t HAVE to be insane to work here but it REALLY helps.” is no joke.
Bottle shock: Napa Valley quake shatters prized wine collections, as wooden casks crashed to cellar floors when a 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck Napa Valley on Sunday, but damage to the famous wine region at the start of harvest time might be limited to a handful of wineries. Oh dear, I feel so bad for them – not. Stupid, stupid, stupid. You live in earthquake country, you take PROactive measures. I bet they appeal for disaster aid.
A woman is to be sentenced next month for setting a wildfire on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation in central Oregon because her firefighter friends were bored and needed work. This has happened before in other states, including Colorado and South Dakota: in Colorado it was a FedGov employee, no less. Because the FedGov pays most costs of wildfires, regardless of what land is involved, too many people think this is “free” money and will help them and the community. That same stupidity is what caused this woman to send a Twitter asking people if they liked her fire, so she was easily caught.
This sounds weird, and is weird as well as another example of the evil that police are associated with more and more. In Louisiana, an autopsy has shown that the police lied about a man who they claimed killed himself in police custody by shooting himself in the back. In the back seat of the police car, no less. The single, fatal wound was to the chest, while he had his hands cuffed behind him. And exactly where did a gun in the back seat of the cop car come from? How stupid ARE these cops?
History can sometimes tell us HOW we got into this mess. Sadly, as a society we never seem to learn how NOT to do it again. That is why this article is both fascinating and frustrating: Greg Scandlen in “Safe Haven: How Mutual Aid Can Protect Families in Times of Trouble,” Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom, August 2014; and “How We Once Provided Medical Benefits,” NCPA Health Policy Blog, August 19, 2014, brings us the history of how Brits and Amis both once helped each other get medical care WITHOUT government interference or involvement, and withOUT corporate control. And how we could do it again. Is this a model for after the Collapse? Perhaps. But only if we stop being quite so stupid.
