Response to my comments on “no due process, no justice, no passport”

By Nathan Barton

A relative sent me this rebuttal from an unnamed source:

I first took the loss this to my representative when I found that we were some had people going to fight with icis in the Mideast. This would be a stopgap measure to try to stop and this going to our enemy to fight our troops. It could be and made permanent as in the story of a man without a country. How else can we for force them to stay where they are and not return to the U.S. and cause problems here?

Mama’s Note: One has to wonder if English is not this person’s first language, or if he’s just as dumb as a box of rocks… or both. No editing even attempted.

Here is my response:

How will taking away the passport of a bad guy keep them from returning to the US? Ask about 12 million Mexicans and other Latin Americans, who say, “we don need no steenking passports” to come cross border into ‘Merica!” And anyone can buy a fake passport for as little as $1000 – that is only about 20 barrels of Saudi or Iranian or Venezuelan oil. As with taking guns away from people, it will only affect honest people, who are greatly are hurt by having passports confiscated. The criminals will work around it.

Supposedly/theoretically, we have intelligence assets tracking these bad guys while they are serving with ISIS or Al Qaeda or the PKK or whomever, and they are theoretically already blocked form returning, supposedly on the no-fly list, and can be screened for when they try to return to the US. But even if that were not the case, even ISIS and Al Qaeda sympathizers surely deserve to have due process, and not be treated like criminals without being charged and tried and convicted. And maybe if we stopped handing out green cards and naturalization papers like CrackerJack prizes, we wouldn’t have murdering thugs like this “Kuwaiti-American” that killed four Marines and a petty officer, in the country in the first place.

Mama’s Note: I can’t see that “green cards” have anything to do with it. How about if “we” stop government from trying to control the lives and property of anyone. Then those who are affected, and interested, can defend themselves and their communities from the few “bad guys” who manage to come along. The problem wasn’t the Kuwaiti man’s “green card,” it was the gun free zone and other factors that allowed him to kill the military men.

If the Marines and sailor had been fully armed, fully aware of their surroundings, and fully ready to defend themselves and others… the outcome would probably have been very different, regardless of who the attacker was or where he came from.
