Recent events discussed on the talk shows (and much less so on news channels, especially the mainstream media) are deeply disturbing, and the response of too many libertarians both disturbs me and disgusts me. So when a correspondent sent me this quote, it set my brain on fire.
A friend shared this with me recently: In one simple quote, Sister Joan Chittister, O.S.B. (Benedictine Nun and writer/lecturer from Erie, PA) sums up the hypocrisy in the ‘pro-life’ movement as reported in the Daily Kos:
“I do not believe that just because you’re opposed to abortion, that that makes you pro-life. In fact, I think in many cases, your morality is deeply lacking if all you want is a child born but not a child fed, not a child educated, not a child housed. And why would I think that you don’t? Because you don’t want any tax money to go there. That’s not pro-life. That’s pro-birth. We need a much broader conversation on what the morality of pro-life is.”
My first response was to say that I agree with most of what she says, except two things (and they are biggies):
1. Simply because many (even most) people do not live up to the full meaning of “pro-life” is not really a reason to reject the term: rather it is an encouragement to apply your life and worldview honestly and without hypocrisy. We must rather be both pro-life AND pro-birth.
2. She accuses people of not wanting to feed, educate, or house children, because they don’t “want tax money to go there.” She is Catholic, and so is (at least nominally) a believer in the Bible. She will not be able to show us anywhere in the Bible that says that feeding, educating, or housing children is to be done with tax money, or that it is to be done by the government (who controls the tax money, of course). Rather, these things, together with clothing and loving the child, are the responsibility of the PARENTS and the family, and if they are unable to do so unsupported, then the church is responsible to help the family. NO taxes, NO government bureaucracy, NO theft of money from people for “forced charity.”
While she is talking about people being hypocritical about calling themselves “pro-life” she should talk about those who are against abortion but have no problem with the guy in DC using drones to kill innocent women and children in Afghanistan and Mesopotamia and Yemen, instead of fighting wars in a moral manner. And with our corrupt justice system that time and again convicts (and sometimes sentences to death) innocent people on the one hand, while (thanks to political influence and other factors) allowing hundreds of murderers to get off scot-free or with relatively small sentences, thus making the lives of their victims apparently of no value. And thousands who commit homicide by drunk driving or other means.
Now, I’ve changed my mind. She is stating some true things, but her words and the context make it clear that she is part of the problem. Problem? We condemn the Greek and Roman republics (and our own American southern States and the Confederate States) for supporting their society, their economy, and their State by the forced labor of slaves, but we modern Americans are worse. We support these things with the blood of innocents, thousands per day. We can say little about the millions of Germans who by and large accepted the evil deeds of the Third Reich between 1933 and 1945 – and even supported it. We have accepted and NOT done enough to prevent the murder of tens of millions in the last forty years.
Therefore, I do NOT in any way, accept either this nun’s promotion of taxes and government services, or the Tranzis’ (at Daily Kos) explanation, and find their hypocrisy insane and evil. They are using this nun (seemingly with her tacit agreement) to attack the entire opposition to abortion, including the Roman Catholic Church, based on their own warped view of humanity and their obvious worship of government and the state. Let me be clear: if you are in favor of taxes, used to “support” government and all these wonderful things “for the children” you are NOT pro-life. You are pro-death.
Of course, as I was writing this, I completely made myself sick to the stomach by watching a video and reading a transcript at CNS News of two ghouls (one suppposedly an M.D.) going through the shattered body of an 11.6-week old baby, identifying the various organs and body parts, and exclaiming “it’s a boy!” The sickness, the EVIL of these people (no matter WHAT so called Catholic senior clergymen want to say about evil) is so clear, in large part because of how they discuss this so calmly, and talk about how to make the most money from it.
But that brings me to another point that occurred to me while reading this woman’s condemnation of the “pro-life” movement for not spending tax money, and watching the video. If there were not companies, and people, willing to buy and use these baby body parts, willing to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for them to use in experiments to develop new products to sell, this would NOT be happening. Indeed, Planned Parenthood and the other baby-killers in this nation (and no doubt around the world) might not be able to break even in offering their “good services” to murdering mothers (as that scumbag murderer in DC referred to the services that PP offers). The businesses, the laboratories, the research universities, as well as the procurers who GET these memorabilia of murder from these death-mills, are JUST as guilty. They cannot POSSIBLY not know where these things are coming from. We do indeed live in a land of death.
If government were not consuming 30-50% of our income, directly and indirectly; if government were not ENCOURAGING mass migration to “provide workers” for American jobs; if government were not taking hundreds of millions of dollars from taxpayers and giving it to killers and ghouls, and billions to the “education” industry and educrats and the contractors that provide services to the government-run, tax(theft)-funded schools, there would be MORE than enough money left in everyday, decent, Americans’ pockets to pay for the food and shelter and education and clothing of their own children and those of needy families – and there would also be far fewer needy families if jobs were not taken by immigrants enticed to “illegally” enter the US.
Mama’s Note: The economy, and thus jobs, are destroyed and “taken” by government theft and violence against producers, not by immigrants. Let’s blame those who are actually responsible for ALL the problems, as individuals and as groups, who use government to initiate aggression – as well as the government itself. You say the same thing below, basically, so how did the immigrants become responsible for any of it?
We live in a land – in Fifty lands, Fifty States – which is controlled by a government that kills thousands directly by bombs and drones and tens of thousands indirectly by destroying infrastructure and economies, and millions more indirectly by facilitating and encouraging and protecting the murder of children in the womb. That murdering abortionist in Philadelphia was a piker compared to Planned Parenthood. If he hadn’t put the dead babies in the refrigerator and then the dumpster or a home trash can, but “conserved” their “parts” and sold them to the ghouls and organleggers, he would have had enough money to bribe everyone from the local police district right up through Harrisburg and even DC – and paid for a nice, clean, neat facility that didn’t become so obvious he got caught. But even so, for HIS murderous deeds, we can once more thank government.
Do you want to truly be “pro-life” in a non-hypocritical way? Then reject the power and control of government, take responsibility for your own life, for the care and well-being of your own family, for helping your friends and neighbors and fellow church members, and help end this corrupt and hypocritical system which murders the innocent from conception to old age, and which destroys the opportunities for all to have a better life NOT at the expense of others.
