But… but, You HAVE To Vote For SOMEONE!!!

By MamaLiberty

A dear friend sent me a raft of article links today, all begging, screaming or whining about how people “must” vote for someone, anyone… but especially FOR Clinton! I had avoided talking with her about this over the years because I knew she was a dedicated liberal and I believed there was no point to the discussion. We had other, very important things in common. But this was the last straw, so to speak.

I’ve read many such things over the years, and continue to do so. None of it will ever change my mind. It is a matter of principle, the foundation of integrity and non-aggression I live by. Everything is measured by that, and non-voluntary government in general – electoral politics in particular – is not supported in any way as desirable, moral or even practical.  I think I’ve tried to explain that here at PoL, but maybe not.

This is essentially what I told her:

I do “vote” occasionally in local things; against a tax increase or other proposition that would limit or destroy liberty in some way – for whatever good it does. If people here want the theft, my vote means nothing. If they don’t want the theft, my vote means little as well. But I give in to the farce occasionally, even though I know that none of the theft or threat of force to collect it is legitimate.

No involuntary government has any asset whatsoever that were not first stolen from those who owned it and/or produced it. Tax (of every kind) is theft, and passing “laws” against things or actions or ideas, just because it sounds good to some people… does not mean it is right. Sometimes things work out well for some of us in local elections, of course, but the mob rule of the “vote” imposes a lot of truly evil, dangerous and obscene things on people who don’t agree.

The current “candidates” for president (and all others I’ve seen) have lots of ideas they’d like to impose on us, for all sorts of reasons. And it doesn’t matter in the least if some consider their intentions are “good” or otherwise. The bottom line of all non-voluntary government is control of our lives, and confiscation of our property whenever it is convenient for them. To do this they will lie, cheat, steal and use force in any way possible. ALL non-voluntary governments, one way or another.

So, it doesn’t matter who occupies the chairs or shakes your hand or what they profess. They are all vultures, and I’ve never seen or heard of anything they pretend to offer that will make my life better, much less more free. This year in particular they all seem utterly insane to me. But it doesn’t matter in the long run. I want no part of any of them, for any reason, ever.

There is never any “lesser evil.” Only EVIL. And choosing one or the other evil can never make that evil any less… So, the only thing that will happen this “election” season is that another of the liars, thieves, cheats, and murderers will take “office” and do whatever it is they decide to do – in concert with all the other liars, thieves, cheats and murderers in government offices around the country.

Consider that most of the government “employees” (at every level) that control our lives are not elected. They continue to carry out the policies making us all slaves no matter who is elected, their paychecks and perks coming from the goods they work so hard to steal from the rest of us. Do they all realize they are thieves and slavemakers? Probably not, but does it matter?

I’ve spent most of my life studying this, and that’s the conclusion I’ve come to. Everyone has their own opinion, of course. That just happens to be mine.

I will not willingly be a slave to anyone – or participate in enslaving anyone else. I have zero obligation to do so, however “good” the cause some folks believe in. I do not consent… I own my life and body, and am the only one who is responsible for that life and my safety. If others will not accept that responsibility for themselves and their families, it’s not my business to do it for them… They have to live with the consequences of their choices, as I do. I will defend myself the best I can if others aggress against me.

There’s little more I can do, without becoming an aggressor myself. That’s why I will not be voting in November.

Wonderful words, great points. The elections: I tell people that I am not voting because there is no one worth voting for. This get a lot of people all upset, mainly the ones who are running for office

What would make someone “worth voting for”? Who is qualified to control your life and property for you?

Unless the “vote” is only binding on those who agree, it is an act of coercion no matter who is running for office.
