The hysterical media hype of the “progressive” marching children has faded some the last week, though the anti-gun – anti liberty – crowd continues to make the news daily. Some important counter measures have been publicized as well, for a wonder, and how it will all come out in the wash is anyone’s guess.
But most “people of the gun” continue to talk about and rely on the second amendment to the constitution, and worry that their rights will be eliminated by those in control of government.
Too bad they’ve been misinformed. It is not possible for anyone – or even a super majority – to eliminate the natural right of all living things to defend themselves. The natural right to defend our lives, family and property needs no words on a strip of parchment to make it so. That requires only the will and action of the individual.
Unfortunately, a large majority of individuals across the globe, and across time itself, have chosen to trust other people to administer their natural rights and, therefore, to control their lives and property. Given that permission (and most assuredly soon without it), “governments” have been the direct cause of the suffering, poverty and death the world has suffered since at least the start of recorded history.
These “constitutions” and other parchment fantasies, all the “laws” against assault, murder and other obvious evils, have zero legitimate or rational authority. If individuals will not do whatever is necessary to exercise and defend themselves and their natural rights – AS individuals first, and then in voluntary association – no words on parchment, and no government, can do it for them.
The second amendment ends with: “…shall not be infringed.” Or what? There is no hint of a mechanism that will restrain the government from infringement. The people will rise up and control the government? The same people who trust and love their “constitution,” who think that the 2A actually protects them somehow? I don’t think so – at least that hasn’t happened effectively before. A violent “revolution” is very unlikely to produce peace, liberty and justice… just a new set of tyrants in the end.
Self ownership, self governorship, self responsibility. Integrity and voluntary association. That’s what every person needs for peace and prosperity. Oh, and the freedom to defend themselves and their community from anyone who wants to control them.

The goal is control. Control of everything and everyone. They can’t actually get away with it as long as we have guns. Unfortunately, far too many people seem to think the gun thing as an isolated problem and don’t see the whole picture, even believing that the government will actually protect the rest of their natural rights… and far too many wanting “special” rights as well.

Mama, I have said it recently, that the constitution is not what has held this country together for over two centuries, but the fidelity of the people of this country to said constitution. If the people of America suddenly started to ignore the constitution and all of it’s parts, then we would quickly dissolve into either tyranny or anarchy. And it is only the people who will ultimately decide what path we will go down in the future. Sadly, the direction of our nation has been turned towards a liberal tyranny for decades, if not longer.
Many have said before that government cannot govern without the consent of those beneath them. I don’t believe that the people are angry enough to stand up to the government for their continued taking of our freedoms yet. Some of us have said Enough!, but until the meek among us start to see that there is simply no way to live in servitude to a master any more, nothing will happen. However, I do believe that one day, the time will come that the common people will rise up, much like the Marxist prediction of an overthrow of the Bourgeoisie by the Proletariat, and take back our country. If not, then I think that it is our duty as individuals to take care of our own and to try to spread the message of true freedom to as many as wish to hear it.

I do not consent. I never have. There is simply no opt out for me or any other who thinks this way. The government doesn’t seem to have any problem ignoring my lack of consent. They will be glad to kill me if I resist enough.
The only outcome I see of any sort of angry “overthrow” is the installation of another set of tyrants. Happens every “election.”

Well, there are some folks who take it seriously, and that’s good. And it’s great to be able to show up the folks who swear an oath to uphold and defend it as cads and liars when they violate that oath. So the Constitution isn’t completely useless – – –

Still trying to get someone to tell me how and why they give this “constitution,” and the non-voluntary government it created, the authority to control their lives.
By what legitimate authority does this strip of parchment, and the tyrants it created, control the lives and property of those who don’t consent to it?

The Constitution was never intended to “make laws” … nor should it. It exists only to establish a guideline for future laws, and it ‘enumerated” a series of philosophical concepts under which laws may legitimately be enacted.
Or not.
Any “law” which counters any part of the Constitution was assumed to be “Unconstitutional”, and held no legitimacy. Even National laws, let alone those enacted by a state, were automatically inapplicable if they are deemed to be counter to our Constitutional rights .. which are, in a very real sense,. the highest Law of the Land.

Jerry, you can believe all that if you want. But did you sign that contract? I didn’t, and never will. Read what Lysander Spooner has to say about it, and you may never look at it the same again. By what authority does the “constitution” control our lives? By what authority is it the “law of the land?” Why would people trust this involuntary government with their lives and property, especially now when it is so obvious that it is very ready and willing to kill us if we don’t submit to the tyranny? Will it really take house to house gun confiscation to get that message across?
But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain—that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist. Lysander Spooner
