With friends, clients, and family in northwestern New Mexico, we pay close attention to the news from the Land of Enchantment.
It isn’t good these days. According to the Farmington Times, New Mexico’s thuggish empress has waved her scepter and decreed two+ weeks of fresh lockdown. Not just a lockdown, but a stay-at-home order and more. “Businesses” (including churches) are not allowed to have more than 25% of occupied capacity of their building or 75 people max to be there. While liquor stores and bicycle maintenance shops are “essential” apparently schools are not. Thanksgiving is all but outlawed – no, not just the holiday but the mere giving of thanks. Rationing of a long list of “essential supplies” has been established. (Including medications, baby formula, and diapers. Unsure if toilet paper, paper towels, and hand sanitizer is. Maybe those things are not “essential.”)
Authority for Empress Luhan Gresham to impose a fresh round of tyranny? Apparently only the guns of the murdering thugs too many New Mexico cities (like Albquerque) and the State Police have. And an election in which the extreme left won in New Mexico in a easy walk. Apparently. Funny how the people of the State are so threatened by the racism, fascism, and all of old white men but still voted overwhelmingly for one, isn’t it?
Of course, New Mexico is far from the only State where the dictator’s iron fist has tightened around the citizens’ throats. And not all are the same old autocrats and bureaucrats doing the same thing over again. Like California, New York, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. No, we recently saw Utah join those ranks – and just this weekend, the Governor of North Dakota fell into temptation and bowed down at the feet of his State’s “Deep State.” Both Utah and North Dakota had been part of the “Axis of Evil” earlier this year. Those seven or eight states had refused to implement the “science” and lock down their economies, demand that people “stay safe at home,” and force the wearing of face diapers. But just now, both states have ordered everyone to wear masks in public places at all times. Their politicians, bureaucrats, and medical technocrats seek to spread fear and panic.
Led by the FedGov’s own Deep State, for whom Dr. Anthony Fauci has become the poster child. “I was talking with my UK colleagues who are saying the UK is similar to where we are now because each of our countries have [sic] that independent spirit,” he said Thursday, according to CNBC. “I can understand that, but now is the time to do what you’re told.” Fauci the Fascist has spoken.
So we are having it hammered into our heads: independence is bad. Shut up, obey, bow down and kiss our boots. But every time these “powers-that-be” say or do their thing, their actions just elevate the anger. They cause more and more people to disobey the laws, ignore the “general public” and the mainstream media, and begin thinking about extreme measures to combat the growing tyranny.
We’ve seen that, and heard about it, in New Mexico. Started hearing it from those parts of Utah we know well. I’ve no doubt we will hear about it (and loudly) from North Dakota also. Despite its Scandinavian and German collectivist heritage. (For all the “social compact” community feeling that the Scandinavian people and nations are known for, there are also the long traditions of berserkers and violent armed rebellion and resistance that Norway, Denmark, Finland, and even Sweden and Minnesota have as an underlying current in society.)
We have seen, and now see more and more, outright rebellion against the closings, the lockdowns, the stay-safe orders even in states like Colorado and Minnesota. Especially in the rural areas. The areas that DID NOT vote for crazy Uncle Joe and his Sith apprentice. That did NOT send regressive extreme-left stooges to Congress or their state legislatures. That understand life and death, and don’t think we can’t die. If not of COVID, then of regular flu or coronaries or cancer. Or loneliness and dispair.
And the rebellion is NOT just against the Pandemic Panic measures. Slowly but surely people are ignoring many other edicts. Not obeying speed limits? That is so 1980s. (And it is happening more and more.) Failing to get licenses and permits? More and more. Failing to pay taxes (and not just because they often can’t, thanks to the destruction of the economy)? More and more. Telling the enforcers, whether armed or not, in suits or not, to take a hike? Yes. More and more.
And honestly we need more of this. Not just refusal to obey the “guidelines” and the decrees and the new interpretations of old laws and regulations, to do with the Beer Flu. But against every kind of regulation and rule.
But something else is just as important as refusing to obey stupid laws that say something is “wrong” or “bad” just because they say so – or enforcing “public health measures” based on phony science and consensus and a lust for power. TELLING other people why we are doing it. Explaining why we resist. Teaching by our words and our actions. Sam Adams put it well:
“If ye love wealth better than liberty,
the tranquility of servitude
better than the animating contest of freedom,
go home from us in peace.
We ask not your counsels or your arms.
Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you.
May your chains set lightly upon you,
and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”
