Of course, political Libertarians are quick to point out that American voters (at least in most States) do have a third choice. Maybe even several: we think you can still cast a vote for the Prohibition Party in Colorado. And Natural Law and actual “we-still-call-ourselves” Communist Party in several States.

But we understand: the chances of a Libertarian (much less a true lover of liberty) getting elected to Congress (or even to a State legislature) are slightly less than the chances of you successfully catching a meteor falling from the sky in your bare hands (without injury)!

As discussed in other postings of commentary, the so-called Democratic Socialists of America, who seem to be the modern equivalent of the “vanguard of the proletariat,” have in essence taken control of the Democratic Party nationally and in many if not most States. And also as pointed out, when the DDR collapsed and was united with the BRD (Bundesrepublik Deutschland), the East German Communists rebranded their old single-party-state ruling party as “Democratic Socialists.” The major way in which the anti-American, home-grown “Democratic Socialists of America” seem to differ from standard Marxist-Leninist doctrines and platform is that the DSA is more Trans-national than International in orientation. We considered them to be Communists long before The Donald recognized that. And when we look at “Authoritarian,” we suspect a better description would be “Extremely Tyrannical.”

But let us look briefly at the other Old Party. The GOP (Gang of Psychopaths, Gorging on Power, Greedy Old Politicians?) aka the Republican Party is described in Wickedpedia as “is a right-wing populist and nationalist political party in the United States, sitting on the right-wing to far-right of the political spectrum.”

They have no idea, do they? (Whoever wrote that.)

But as the above cartoon says, a majority of the GOP politicians in office in DC (and too many Statehouses, County courthouses, and municipal buildings) do exhibit the character traits of Spineless Weasels. We can start with half of The Donald’s cabinet members, Mitch McConnell (or whoever is controlling his meat-puppet strings right how, John Thune, Mike Johnson, and a dozen more of the highers-up.

We all know Acton’s Dictum: Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. In the case of the GOP, we can say this is certainly true: the power that the GOP has in the swamp (whether limited or not) has and continues to corrupt them.

And when you combine the two Old Parties, you do get absolute power, or near enough. (And certainly they believe that is what they have.) And we see that the corruption is absolute, total, extreme, and deadly. The power corrupts not just the party leaders, but even the rank and file in the legislatures, US House, and Senate: businessmen and women, farmers, ranchers, military veterans? They seem to all get sucked into the machine that molds them into corrupt, self-seeking politicians who treat all the rest of us as the slaves on their plantation.

Every time we think that this guy or that gal might actually keep their nose clean and live up to their promises, principles, and oaths? It only slows down the spread of the rot a little bit. And when it comes to dealing with the Woke: the Democrats of any flavor, the Tranzi-sympathizers and promoters? These GOP types have to spine of a dead jellyfish or a squashed beetle.

To put it simply, and answer out headline? There is really no choice. Electing some GOP types to office offers nothing more than a longer, slower drawn-out process of rusting out the American ideals and dreams.
