A correspondent recently shared this posting from a social media site with us here at TPOL:

As we told our friend, the answer is very simple and very sad.
Why were these immigrants given this authority?
A majority of people (well, so it is claimed, but even without cheating it is at best a strong plurality) voted for these people. Why?
First, the voters were poorly educated. (My oh my, government-run, tax-funded schools! What did we expect?)
Secondly, we Americans have been lied to for years by being told we are supposed to be a “democracy” and not a republic, where the power of the government and of majorities is limited. So that two wolves and a lamb can’t vote to have lamb chops for lunch.
Third, Congress, the Legislatures, and the Court System refuse to enforce and follow the Constitutions and especially the Bills of Rights all of them have. So… governments constantly grab and keep more and more over us more and more often, and that in turn causes greedy and immoral people to seek power and be worse and worse parasites on us. Today, that means letting a supposed majority of people electing and giving someone incredible power. At least in part, because those people (not just the immigrants) promised them the modern equivalent of bread and circuses.
There are no doubt many other reasons, but these first come to mind. We have given governments in the States tremendous powers and have in essence opened our pocketbooks wide to whatever our “elected representatives” want to take.
(We’ve discovered, even if most of us don’t recognize it, that “taxation with representation” is really no better than “taxation without representation.”)
Bluntly, Americans have done it to ourselves.
But this giving power and then proskynesis to immigrants that don’t share our history, don’t share our culture, and don’t share our traditional values and morals? It isn’t new, either.
In 1848, thousands of socialists (early Marxists) fled from Europe after their failed attempts to overthrow the governments there. These Forty-Eighters came to the States and among other things, teamed up with like-minded native-born lovers of government and then worked to create a New American Order.
They started with the Republican Party, triggering the War between the States, colonizing the South, implementing strategies and tactics for political control and theft of power and money from the people. (Improving on Marx, we might add: Marx was very impressed with Abe Lincoln.)
And this led to the rise of “progressivism,” starting with Teddy Roosevelt, followed by the administrative state (Woody Wilson), then the New Deal (FDR), the Fair Deal (Harry Truman), the Great Society (LBJ) and on and on. All with the Republicans pretending it was all the Democrats’ idea.
At the same time, some of the items in this posting grate our nerves.
This “not pledging allegiance” business, for instance. It isn’t just its socialist origins (look up Francis Bellamy online. A radical “Christian” socialist penned the original version for reasons that lovers of liberty find disgusting. The best information about the Pledge is no longer found online, but one article is here. To imply that growing up saying the Pledge each morning in the classroom is essential to being a good “public servant” is foolish.
But the entire idea of requiring someone (in order to be eligible “legitimately” for public service requires immersion from birth in our culture, educated (indoctrinated?) in accordance with a specific political doctrine, is even more foolish.
As history shows: as proven by generations of immigrants from virtually every land on the planet. Including those (and the descendants of those) who were forced to come to this land. Not just as slaves, but as transportees, indentured servants, and even enemy prisoners of war. And including those who found their homes forcibly and involuntarily incorporated into the jurisdiction of the FedGov.
Ideas like this are intended to defend the American way of life, our society, our culture, and more. But if we are not careful, they will actually damage, pervert, and destroy those things.
