Somehow, a TPOL staffer was directed to a very strange “personal” commercial website that had this gem on the landing page:
Shouldn’t Democracy have a backup system, where a majority of the people assembles in the streets and replaces their entire leadership all at once, in one go?
Here is a new grassroots system for holding elections on video that is totally incorruptible, and totally believable. It’s also self-organizing, so the people can hold elections at any time, without government involvement.
Democracy really needs a backup system like this, where a majority of the people assembles in the streets, and votes-out their entire elected government and un-elected bureaucracy all at once. And isn’t this unquestionably a right of free people everywhere?
All voters attach a home-printed paper-ballot to their chest. These chest ballots will have name, ID info, and who or what they are voting for. Each voting district, or “Nome” of 250 voters will walk in two side-by-side lines of 125 people that loop. Everyone has their camera out, held up to their shoulder as they walk their loop. And everyone video records the faces & paper ballots of the other people in their Nome’s voting loop as they walk past each other.
Is this an answer to the corruption of governments in the States and elsewhere? Is this really not much different from the traditional New England Town Meeting, as is claimed? Is this really a backup system or just pretending to organize a mob?
We have to admit that this sort of bizarre proposal is not surprising in 2026. Millions of people are frustrated at every turn as the kitchen sink fills to the ceiling with the unwashed dishes while the dishwashing crew says that they are working on it, and will get them all washed, dried, and put away soon. Just as they’ve been saying for the last century or so.
And of course, the best they can do is rearrange the dirty plates and all to keep everything from crashing down completely. And maybe, maybe, actually get a dish or two washed “enough” to serve food on, at being cleaner than on the floor.
Quirky comparisons aside, this modest proposal is filled with holes and dangers and consequences. Whether unintended or intended, let us look at a few of these:
This presentation is linked to a “2026 Constitution” that is 974 pages long! Yup, even longer than California’s! Of course, this huge document includes quotes, justifications for some items, and a huge amount of micromanagement and sarcasm. (At least in our opinion, a horrific amount.)
Clearly, from the very opening pages of this massive document, it is intended to correct everything that the promoters and authors see as wrong with the society and functioning of the Fifty States. It seeks to preserve rights and control government actions while making more and more citizens active participants in the political process and system. They desire liberty and openness and accountability.
We applaud their efforts, but fear that this document and their entire concept of democracy is not going to accomplish these goals. Instead, we fear this would just create, in both short and long term, a society, an electorate, that can be manipulated and reduced more and more to abject servitude.
Why? Because ultimately, we see that democracy has always led to that. Efforts to prevent or even control concentration of power, corruption, and denial of God-given rights ultimately fail in democracies. Why? Because we allow government to have too much power, and fail to provide sufficient recognition of the essential power (and right) of secede from the jurisdiction of that government, to reject its power, and to forcibly defend ourselves against that power and those who use it wrongly.
We recognize that there is no perfect form of government, and no perfect government or body of people (citizens, voters, etc.) possible. Not for humans, anyway. But democracy in any form that is not severely controlled and incredibly limited in power and scope of their power is only a prelude to tyranny, both with the street senate (the mob) or with the man on a white horse coming to “rescue” the people. Or both.
That is why we as lovers of liberty strongly believe that the only real solution is to reduce and ultimately eliminate mandatory human government. Along with the claimed monopoly of use of force.
Which is the goal towards we work. And pray you do, as well.
