Fac3bo0k (Leet script intentional to show my contempt and concern about being censored, too) has once again demonstrated its commitment to the evils of transnational progressivism (Tranzi) and its support of the State. This time, it comes in two ways. First, as reported by Motherboard, this website [Fac3bo0k] has decided that the iconic (Pulitzer-winning, back in the days when the Pulitzer and the Nobel prizes meant something) photo of the little naked girl running down a road fleeing an attack in a Vietnamese village is child porn. And so violates their “standards.” This from a website that features an incredible amount of both soft and hard porn of the “adult variety.”
The Motherboard article goes on to point out this is FAR from the only incident of such censorship, which seems to have much less to do with “protecting” people from porn as it does with advocating and preventing advocacy of political and religious opinions, and controlling content for the sake of control. And this publication is far from the only one pointing out the arrogance and bias (bigotry) of Facebook’s controllers and founders.
This is a blatant attempt, using the excuse of “offensive matter” and “morality,” to rewrite history. Too few people remember the horrors of Vietnam as it is: this will just speed up things.
Mama’s Note: I read yesterday that the picture is back. At least FarceBook did seem to listen to its customers.
The second is related to one of those generally-unknown founders of Fac3bo0k, other than the “Big Z,” donating $20 million dollars to defeat Donald Trump. Not all in one big lump (which would be illegal) but in a dozen different ways. If this were the Koch Brothers, or some other “rightwing” tycoon, and the money was going to fight Hillary Clinton (can’t anyone leave that poor sick woman alone), it would be condemned by hundreds of news sources and “human rights” campaigners. (Just as if Trump had shown half the signs of severe illness that Miz Hillary has, they would be running front-page editorials demanding that he resign).
Clearly, this is an attempt to change the future, as well as the past. These guys can spend their money for anything they want, in my opinion. But that doesn’t mean we can’t understand what they are intending. (And of course, with that poor sick woman, they may be just throwing their money away.)
As for that first story, if it were a “right-wing” (or heaven help us, a libertarian) site censoring their postings, again, there would be demands on the floor of Congress to seize control to ensure fairness. And college campuses would host protests in which copies of screenshots of the offending website would be burned (never mind air pollution laws).
It indicates that more and more, the world and the Fifty States are fragmented and a dual or triple standard is applied. Anyone wanting more freedom is an extremist, and if you or your opinion can be squeezed into a round hole labeled “conservative,” then you are not just evil, you are an evil radical reactionary who wants every sort of evil ever perpetrated (evil in the eyes of the Tranzis) on the face of the planet.
What can be done? We aren’t going to change these people: we simply have to work around them, and learn to identify the problems before they are obvious. It won’t be the last time, just as it was not the first. The so-called Culture War is more serious than any political contest, in part because it sets the stage for political fights in a system where government is a god. We must be aware of what is going on.
I have no more respect or love for Fac3b00k than I do for any part of Islam, any political party, or any promoter of Statism. But I do recognize the power and the control that is possible, and that so many people have been swallowed up in. As I’ve pointed out before, this company and its website is MORE than just a willing tool of government, it is a full partner, and in many cases, the dominant, controlling partner.
