I just finished reading Trump’s inaugural address. Here are some of my thoughts…
Sounds very much as if this lunatic will complete the destruction of American freedom, wealth and peace… (And no, I didn’t “vote” for anyone. NONE OF THE ABOVE would be my choice if I did.)
There was absolutely zero mention of individual liberty or autonomy in this speech. Three hundred million + people will never, can never share all the same values, goals and aspirations. The crushing “we” here is as serious a pathology as the Klinton assumptions of authority and power to dictate her own ideology and whims.
No mention at all of the necessity for, or enduring benefits of, actual free trade (no governments involved), or a truly free economy based on what individuals and their voluntary associations want to do with their own lives and money. No, instead is the intention to force everyone to follow Trump’s vision for America. And, sadly, it is no more relevant to peace and prosperity than the insanity perpetrated by every other “president” in American history… just more severe.
No mention of individual responsibility for our choices and actions. A clear indication that the current wars on people (drugs, guns, sex) will continue in one form or another… for our own good, of course.
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” ― C.S. Lewis
Hang on tight, America… I think we’re in for a very bumpy ride.
