There is afoot a proposal, “bipartisan” of course, to rename the Russell (Old) Senate Office Building (SOB – a worthy acronym for the place) in honor of recently dead John McCain.
It is fascinating to compare these two men, especially when you read the biography of RIchard B. Russell, (D) Georgia, US Senator 1933 to 1971. You can see it here, courtesy of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the mainstream media.
But let me summarize: He was a New Deal Democrat, supporting Roosevelt in almost everything, including the internment of US citizens whose ancestors were Japanese. He is perhaps best known as a supporter of U.S. military and defense and an influential opponent of federal civil rights legislation. He was beloved of such wonderful people as Lyndon B Johnson AND Richard Nixon. He was a consummate politician who brought tons and tons of pork home to Georgia. Quite the man, and a long time after Robert E. Lee.
Why do the likes of Chuck Schumer want to rename the Old SOB after McCain and excise Russell’s name?
First, it is part of their effort to rewrite history: to pretend that Democrats were not the segregationists and worse from 1876 to … well, sometime around 1985 or so… that they usually were.
Second, it is to honor a man who sacrificed both conservative political philosophy and the GOP on the altar of his corruption, greed, and warmongering nature. Therefore, far more valuable to the Democratic Party than many Dem Senators. As a result, the three SOB will be named, Dirksen for an Illinois Republican, Hart for a Wisconsin Democrat, and McCain for an Arizona “maverick” with feet in both camps. At least until Lieberman or Sanders dies.
Third, it is all about appearances, power, and spending money. Or to put it another way, political correctness. Remember, it is not the first Democrat that the Tranzis or Progressives have gone after. Consider Presidents Jefferson and Jackson, to name just two. All in the interests of condemning racism, of course.
I have a modest suggestion. Clearly, this evil, racist, statist must have his reputation destroyed forever, his memory excised from the public mind and history. Just renaming the SOB is not enough.
No, we need to obliterate everything that we can that he had anything to do with, to purge his influence on 21st Century America and the world. It will be great practice for doing the same thing to other racists and statists from history as well.
Here are my suggestions:
- Repeal the National School Lunch Program: let local communities and states pay to feed the inmates of government-run, theft-funded schools.
- Get rid of the CDC, headquartered in Atlanta (courtesy of Russell pork), and privatize its functions. I think its time to get politics (and the state) out of medicine.
- Close the Russell USDA Research Center (also Russell pork in Atlanta). In fact, let’s close ALL the USDA research centers: they were long nothing but another way to oppress minorities: black and Asian farmers and poor white trash farmers also. The entire system was and is contaminated by the evil influence of this man.
In this way, they can properly denigrate the memory of one of their own, but show how “bipartisan” they are by doing it publicly to a Democrat.
Perhaps they could even haul the statue of Russell out of the SOB into the Mall and have a “Silent Sam” or “hate Lenin” party where all the BLM and Occupy and Antifa types could have a good ol’ “tear down the statue” event!
At least until they rush off like hounds after a fox for the next fad of hate and vicious aggression.

Why not! McCain was a saint, loyal to the US of A, served to great in the Navy and the navy school, was a wonderful pilot, faithful to his first wife, his vote kept the ACA. All praise and bow to the GD Son of a Bitch, bastard

“Goodbye and good riddance” and this commentary both did not mention the Keating scandal. His actions during the Keating affair were fully in keeping with his immoral, unethical, corrupt, and deceitful behavior his entire life. The Keating scandal, “legal” or not, should have led the voters of Arizona to push him out and back into the gutter in which his heart existed.
