Last week in Phoenix, a horrific incident played out, resulting in four deaths: three from gunshot and one from beating with a baseball bat. To add to the horror, one of the shooting victims was a 5-year-old girl, and the baseball bat beating and killing was of a 7-year-old girl.  The victims were the wife, brother, and two children of the confessed murderer. This was reported by AZFamily, a media site, on the 11th and 12th of August.

Why did this NOT show up on national media? Not a hint.  Not a single editorial about how we need to do more to prevent gun violence and not a single word about the need for better “red flag” laws in Arizona or nationally.  Indeed, I don’t think it was reported outside of Arizona.

I suspect that there may be more than one reason, but the one that seems to be high on my list is a simple one.  By the admission of the killer himself, these killings were “honor killings.”  Although the man was a black American, not an immigrant, he was a Muslim, and he said that God (Allah) demanded that he do these deeds because his wife was having an affair with his brother, and his children were wicked.

Clearly, the man is deranged.  As have been other (if not all) mass-murderers in recent years. But his derangement seems to fit very well with what we have come to expect of many of his co-religionists.  Indeed, it is typical of Muslim jihadists. And it is in complete compliance (submission?) to Islamic law as stated in the Koran and the various other holy books of Islam.

But worse, neither of the two adult victims had any opportunity to really defend themselves, as they were unarmed.  And people nearby as the man killed his brother feared for their lives as he used a pistol and rifle to kill (and ensure that he had killed) his brother.  Because no one was armed and able to respond to the attack.

The judge has referred the man to psychiatric evaluation despite his confession, before actually “trying” the man.  One wag has asked whether or not that means that believing in (and following) Islam is considered (by that judge, at least) as a mental condition.  The temptation is to take the question seriously.

Honor killing is a barbaric, evil custom that follows Islam around the globe, and is incredibly common in places such as Jordan, Turkey, the Gaza Strip, Pakistan, and Syria.  Although it is officially illegal in most of those places, it is considered NOT to be murder, and a far less serious crime than saying mean or nasty things about Muhammed (peanut butter und honig).  It has been done in both many of the Fifty States and in Canada in recent years.  Usually, the perpetrator is a Muslim immigrant; this is odd because the man is apparently American-born and a convert to Islam as an adult.

Honor killing is not just allowed, but explicitly commanded and was practiced by Muhammed and his immediate followers, together with many other aggressive acts of evil.  People will point out that many so-called “Christians” have done similar acts in the past, and even today.  Although some will claim “God told me to do it,” there is nothing in the New Testament to support those claims.  This is in contrast to what is found in the Koran and the Haditha and Islamic law.

I do not know whether this black American was a felon, although nothing is mentioned about weapons charges being brought against him.  Many American felons are converted to Islam in prisons and jails, but not all converts to Islam are such.  The weapons he used were obviously convenient, but based on his murder of his older daughter, he would have used whatever tools were handy.

The points we can learn from this:

• As always, the mainstream media is selective about what mass shootings they report and how they report them. This did not fit their agenda, and therefore has received poor coverage, compared to even a single or double killing by gun.
• A failure to be prepared to defend yourself (or others) is often a death sentence.
• Religion CAN cause aggressive violence and evil acts – but not all religions should be lumped together.  Islam, like the Azteca religion, or the worship of Ba’al, is a religion of death.
• We in the Fifty States are not only failing to help immigrants to conform to society and basic morality, but we are clearly failing to teach such things to even our own, native-born people.  At least some of the time.
