Why don’t they (politicians) fear us?

A recent comment caused me to think, when politicians do these stupid things, what on earth are they thinking?

By stupid things, I mean the recent call by spokeswoman for Uncle Joe, outright calling on media (social media, this time) to censor what the Administration doesn’t want heard. I refer to politicians claiming a protest/riot/invasion on January 6, 2021, was an attempt to overthrow the Federal Government. I am talking about the California General Assembly’s actions to double taxation in that State. I am talking about the effort in South Dakota by the governor and legislature to nullify a vote of the people legalizing marijuana. And thousands of other things – actions taken and attempted by politicians who believe they are our MASTERS.

If they truly feared us – the people of the several States – they wouldn’t do these things. Yet they do! Why?

The politicians – especially those in DC – CLAIM that they fear us. To do things that seem to show that they are fearful. Like fences and barricades around the White House (starting in 1941 and made more elaborate almost constantly since then). The wire and fences and barricades and barriers now seemingly permanently placed around the Capitol. The security guards and metal detectors and everything else around virtually EVERY federal building in the whole Fifty States and territories. These are signs of fear. But in the long term, they are empty measures.

A fence didn’t stop McVeigh from blowing up the federal building in Oklahoma City. Security guards and a perimeter didn’t stop at least Flight 77 from flying into the Pentagon. History abounds with tales of successful assassinations of politicians surrounded by bodyguards.

If politicians REALLY feared us, they would establish truly effective (if not efficient) methods of defending themselves and the places they inhabit. But they don’t.

They have lots of excuses of course – cost, and impact on public views (they might not be reelected, eh?), and communication needs. But those are not justifications.

The truth is, they don’t fear the American people. Oh, they fear SOME – the nutcases, the loonies and the really hardcore extremists. But not many, and not too much. They figure the security measures will net most of the them, and incompetence will be the downfall of virtually all of those sorts of threats. Especially with the FBI and hundreds of other federal and state and local agents out there promoting and encouraging and tempting and infiltrating an incredible number of organizations.

But despite the impassioned stuttering of Pelosi, Schumer, Cheney, etc., American politicians, from local special districts right up to the Capitol and the White House, do NOT really have much fear of Americans.

Why? Because they know that the great majority of people are apathetic and willing to just go along. And that there are enough people who are dyed-in-the-world, brainwashed since pre-school, loyalists to them (or at least some of them) and to “I pledge allegiance,” and “My country, ’tis of thee” that they will rat out, fight against, and betray anyone really trying hard to do anything serious to rebel against them. As the aftermath of 6 January 2021 demonstrates.

Why apathetic? Because (among many other reasons) we have a safety net. Yes, some Americans are killed, badly wounded, or make penniless by crime. Some starve, others die on highways or from bad medical care or direct (and indirect) government actions. But most of us do NOT. We aren’t happy, maybe, but we know things could be a lot worse and so we take what we have for granted. Yup, the tyranny and the totalitarianism is slowly and steadily growing, but our kids or grandkids will deal with that. In the meantime, there is that new video, that new song, that can of beer or bottle of wine, and I’m too comfortable.

And history shows that as long as the rate at which the water is being boiled is slow and steady, nobody – or at least not enough people – care or pay attention.

It is a sad state of affairs, isn’t it? And more coming.

Think about it.

To answer your question: They can do what ever they want and “We the People” are helpless.

But we are NOT “helpless” – we simply do not take action to deny and resist them. The question then becomes, why do we not take such action? Why do we acquiesce, submit?

Because if we go after them, they have the power to stop anything.

I am sure you don’t mean that absolutely – even the powers-that-be are not invincible. Admittedly, it is easy to accept that they cannot be resisted, but no human is all-powerful, and no group is either. There are always weaknesses. And we friends of liberty do not need to be perfect to exploit those weaknesses.
