Well, it is done. So far, the Chicken Littles have not been accurate: no coup to prevent the usual process of a new Massa taking over. No last minute invasion of Russia (with the bogus claim that 2,000 US Army M1 72-ton tanks were sent to Poland over Christmas to spearhead that invasion). No sudden-death overtime with nukes against Russia or China (or even North Korea). No Cuban invasion to prop up the now-dead regime.
But the panic is there: there are “protests” in DC as I write this – riots would be more like it; cars burned, stores looted, and perhaps shots fired. At least one-Trumpophobe has attacked one or more people there for the inauguration. I am sure that in the next few hours, we will hear of and see all kinds of things are done in the name of Trumpophobia and Anti-Trumpism, to say nothing of anti-fascism and more.
In South Dakota, my wife and I got a very plaintive appeal from the SD Democratic Party. In part the e-mail said: “If you’re anything like us, you have a giant pit at the bottom of your stomach today. Knowing that President Obama, a man of compassion, dignity, and grace will be replaced by Donald Trump, who (to put it politely) does not possess any of those characteristics, is discouraging to say the least.
“On a day like today, it’s understandable to feel hopeless, depressed, and ready to give up on the political process.”
Fortunately, I had not eaten for several hours before reading it. Or before listening to all the mainstream media and the Tranzi talking heads (including the big-name Dems who are boycotting the events) whinging and whimpering and attacking him. His 1,400-word speech (such a contrast there!) was “Hitlerian,” according to some. He was – gasp! – saying nasty things about all kinds of people, including some that were standing right there behind him. (But, true to their complete lack of guts, not a ONE of them pulled out their historic antique dagger last used by Brutus on Gaius Julius.)
I feel for the South Dakota Democrats who penned and sent that missive, I really do. South Dakota is a small state, and also not all that rich. There are so few psychologists and psychiatrists in the state that some of these people might have to wait for YEARS to get the help that they clearly need so much. And… the ultimate insult, maybe not even ObummerCare to pay for the help.
Actually, I expect to see a fair number of Republicans join the Democrats, at least in vocally attacking Trump and his policies and plans in various things.
The rumor is that The Donald is going to be spending all day on Monday signing about 200 executive orders. I (and a lot of other folks) hope that virtually all of those are RECINDING the various executive orders (and other actions) issued by Obummer, George W, Billy J, and even George HW. But I fear that Trump may be ensnared already by the bureaucracy. It seems that a single (admittedly very long) executive order could have done.
Something like this:
“The following executive orders issued by previous Presidents of the United States are immediately made null and of no effect:
1. Executive Order 10001
2. Executive Order 10002 …
3. Executive Order 10200.
END LIST
“If any of these need to be replaced, I’ll get around to it soon enough. But for now, everyone is asked to, and told to, use common sense and stop doing stupid things.
“Signed, Donald J. Trump, by grace of the States and the People, President of these united States.”
See? Wouldn’t that be fun?
Meanwhile, all the Tranzi talking heads are already telling us how we have turned our backs on paradise by failing to make “Hilliary Rodham the First, of the House of Clinton, by Grace of the Powers-That-Be, President and Ruler and Prophet and Revelator of the Entire World.” (No insult meant to any LDS or their General Authorities.)
As far as liberty is concerned, while these are going to (continue to) be interesting times, I don’t think this is “liberty’s morning in America” or anything like that. The 45th guy in the office probably can’t and won’t do much to restore most of the liberty we’ve lost (and lost sight of) in the last century-plus. We lovers of liberty need to stay alert and prepared for whatever happens. And LIVE free.
