Eric Peters, over at his website (ericpetersautos.com) suggests that before people support or vote for politicians, voters demand a pledge from the candidates. He suggests:
If I am elected, I will never support “locking down” Americans because I do not believe in making America into a prison. That is the only place where “lock downs” are justifiable in a free society.
If I am elected, I will never support forcing any American to wear a “mask” nor submit to any “guidelines” set forth without due process of law.
If I am elected, I will never support forcing any American to take any drug or submit to any kind of medical procedure that is contrary to their will. The right to control one’s own body is a moral absolute that must never be violated.
Of course, Eric knows that more than 90% of politicians, candidates, and officials, will reject that blunt and very sensible pledge because … Hey, the reason that most of them are politicians and government officials is because they want to lord it over the peons. You are telling them they have to give up the fun that makes their miserable lives better.
Bluntly, misery deserves company, and the more miserable everyone is, the less miserable they personally are.
Eric also suggests that voters take a pledge not to vote for or support in any way any politician that does not take the pledge.
Good for Eric! Here at TPOL we are torn: even if a politico would make a pledge, would they keep their pledge? Better not to vote for any of them: it just encourages them.
We here at TPOL have always appreciated Eric’s coining the phrase “face diapers” for the useless masks dictated by thousands of jurisdiction and millions of businesses during the Pandemic Panic and the Lockdown. (Well, not totally useless: first, they can be decorative and even politically- and otherwise expressive. Second, there are some faces, sadly, that should be covered and hidden from public view.)
(Political face diapers: the one in Colorado “This mask is as useless as our governor.” That one sticks in our mind; there are others. Perhaps a Biden mask would be a popular way to make a statement. Especially if you wear it as a neck gaiter.)
Theoretically, the actions required by Eric’s pledge are really just common-sense requirements of the US Constitution, which gives no power to any congresscrittur or bureau-rat in the FedGov to command any of the three actions. Of course, we know that the vast majority of the elected scum in DC and the various State capitals cannot and will not follow the Constitution, much less the principles which supposedly are its foundation.
By all means, tell the politicians and officials “NO” – but don’t expect them to listen. Still be nice and warn them, remind them, and encourage them to do the right, the moral thing.
In his commentary, Eric used a pirate flag with “No more lockdowns” – and that is certainly valid. It is not only regarding masks, vaccines, and lockdowns BUT IN TENS OF THOUSANDS OF OTHER GOVERNMENT MANDATES. That do nothing constructive, unless in the minds and for the benefit of the parasites, the power-mad (and their checkbooks – or freezers).
Don’t get us here at TPOL wrong: if pirates attack, rob, enslave or murder innocent people, they are no better than governments. But on a world where the the government (gangs) of thugs do those things, people who fight back – with or without violence – are condemned as pirates. Fighting back against aggression is moral and to be praised and supported.
So whether it is the Gadsden Flag, the Goliad Flag (“Come and take it”) or the Jolly Roger, hoist it.
No mandatory masks. No mandatory lockdowns. No involuntary jabs (vaccinations)!

This is a good sentiment, but not likely to have any effect. The Fed has learned from Trump’s mistakes – empowering CDC & NIH to essentially take control of things and act without knowledge.
Now, the current mantra is the CDC may -recommend- masks at which point, all medical facilities from minute clinics to trauma centers and everything in between will immediately impose mask mandates. Local governments in all urban centers will follow, and provide criminal penalties for non-compliance, some state governments will resist but as Texas has shown, you’ll be arrested at gunpoint for non-compliance.
Commercial enterprises will also defer to CDC, though you’ll be able to tell the ones who know the recommendation is bogus as they will “recommend” masks, but not require them, unless a local government requires it – and then they will post “because it’s required by ….”
The issue really needs to be brought to the business world first
“you require masks, I take my business elsewhere”. Conversely, “you stand up to the mask mandates, I take my business to you”.

Excellent points, and generally we won’t be surprised if it works out this way. However, particularly in the West (NOT the Pacific Coast or the Blue/Purple States like Colorado and New Mexico) we think that you will find both local governments and States that will ignore and push back. In 2020, SD’s governor (Noem) was ready to implement the CDC rules and the legislative leadership flat out refused and told her no way. (Sadly, in WY, the spineless legislative leadership did not follow through and impeach and remove Governor Gordon – though 90+ percent of the State ignored his health Nazi mandates). Many local governments, county/city/town refused and I think even more will this time.
But you DO make a point that is very important to success: bring it to local business. The national and even regional chains will get orders from corporate, but even some of their local franchise owner and affiliates pushed back last time: expect more this time IF we squawk and warn them enough! (Recall a fast food chain outlet in Farmington, NM, which succeeded in their pushback.)
Still, telling the thugs at all levels of government “NO” loudly (and even if politely) serves as a warning – and is important for our own encouragement, isn’t it? The word gets out.
