Drone “vigilantes” and other matters of self-defense

The New Jersey connection?

New Jersey was the setting for Orson Welles’ radio broadcast adaption of H.G.Wells’ novel. (Which was set in England.) It terrified millions. Especially in Jersey. Even more than being caught between New York City and Philadelphia – even they really are not the super-villain-infested urban areas of Gotham City and Metropolis! There are many other things that are real that threaten the peace, health, and safety of the good citizens of the mis-named “Garden State.” Pollution, hurricanes and blizzards, hyper-predatory politicians, and laws that would make an old-time dictator blush.

The drones are not up to that level, yet, but it seems that many are afraid of these things. Not just (but especially) in New Jersey. Large numbers of drone sightings have been reported from New Brunswick to South Carolina, and from Illinois east.

The guvmint says nothing, and people take that poorly. Even though we are used to the FedGov (and most government agencies) treating us like mushrooms, it is galling. After all, we have been propagandized for generations that governments (federal and State) are in the business of protecting us from physical threats: too many people remain naive enough to believe that.

The rumors and theories (conspiracy or not) are rampant. New ones every day. Iranians. Chinese. Russians. Aliens. FedGov (military or not) experiments. Corporate monsters. Government officials and shills deny one and all, even while other supposed whistleblowers tell us otherwise. It is a situation rife for confusion, mayhem, and even disaster.

But vigilantes are probably not involved. Despite the mainstream media claims.

What is a “vigilante” according to the dictionary? According to an online Oxford dictionary: a member of a self-appointed group of citizens who undertake law enforcement in their community without legal authority, typically because the legal agencies are thought to be inadequate.

Weel, now. That might apply (as some have suggested) to Batman and his team, or to Superman and his. But to citizens of Jersey who take up arms to take down drones (or whatever unidentified aerial phenomenon they may be) because they are afraid of being attacked (or even just spied on) by these things? They are not vigilantes seeking to enforce the law or punish criminals. They are just defending themselves and perhaps their families and neighbors. From what they see (right or wrong) as a real, physical threat.

If anything, the various politicians, pundits, and government goons who seek to enforce unconstitutional “laws” against people’s God-given right of self-defense are the vigilantes in this case.

Don’t expect this to change much (if at all) when The Donald 2.0 takes charge. Just saying…

More seriously, in all of these panihttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019%E2%80%9320_Colorado_drone_sightingsc over drones in the eastern States, no one seems to recall back in 2019 and 2020 Eastern Colorado and Western Nebraska were subjected to a plague of drones as well. The article in Wikipedia pretty accurately describes the incidents and the failure of the Fed and State governments to do anything worthwhile then.

I’ll say it to anyone who will listen. Shoot them down. Whoever is doing it will complain very loudly. Then we might make some progress on a full investigation.
