The Mexicos in our future?

This interesting news bit floated across my screen last week. ‘Narco-antennas’ keep appearing in Mexico, another sign cartels are reaching far beyond drugs. Indeed, they seem to be assuming power and doing things the way the mobs in Chicago, New York, and elsewhere never did.

As a result, we may soon be seeing a Mexico that is a historical and geographical description, but in reality consists of multiple independent states, similar to the Pre-Bismarck Germanies.

Another tool of the police state

One thing that millions of Americans have learned in the Pandemic Panic and Lockdown is that the “police forces” of American States and local governments are far from the only threat to liberty. What liberty we have left, that is.

The various “public health departments” located in every State and virtually every county, city, and Tribe, exercised their muscle. They have demonstrated that their agents and leaders rival uniformed cops in the way they can seize power, take away freedom, and punish people. Not just rival but exceed. And often without benefit of such niceties as “laws” and “courts” and human rights.

All of course, with the excuses “it is for your own good,” “it is for the children” and “it is essential to protect the public.” And today we see that the tools of oppression are just giving these unelected bureaucrats and power-hungry goons in white coats MORE power.

Colorado seceeding?

A (mostly) serious question, as the dictator (Polis} profanely told the FedGov (read, Trump) to keep federal troops (his word – troops) out of Colorado. 23 July 2020 – is that going to be Colorado’s new independence day celebration?

That’s fine with me. It will be great to have all those empty houses and buildings and everything else when the troops leave. (I presume, after Biden wins and uses other federal troops to drive Trump out of the White House,) Although I suspect that they will be looted, burned, gutted, or squatted in by Polis’ supporters quickly enough. As Denver becomes another Detroit, C-Springs another Deerborn, and so forth.

Why I do not support AntiFa, Black Lives Matter, etc.

Libertarian commentators and writers recently have been slammed for not supporting the groups protesting (and more) since the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis more than seven weeks ago. Not only are we not showing up with our weapons in hand to defend them against the police, we are not supporting them in our words, either. I plead guilty. Indeed, I condemn them.

Are we are hypocritical if we do not support these protests? And the “justified” violence, looting, arson, and other actions? We are condemned for not parroting the claims of “systematic racism” and the collective “white supremacy” and “white guilt” which has supposedly infected and shaped and made “America” since 1619. (We are told that our values as libertarians are nothing but evidence of our “whiteness” and “adherence to white supremacy and superiority.” If we are NOT “white” we are told that we are tools of the establishment if we believe in individualism, personal responsibility, free enterprise, freedom from government, and such things.)

States of Insurrection

It is time to call a spade a spade.  Major American cities are in a state of insurrection – indeed, based on the actions (and inaction) of several States, entire States are in insurrection.  Matters grow worse, day by day. Bad as our federal and state governments have been in the 20th and first two decades of the 21st Century, what we see in too many places is a far worse form of government: overt tyranny coupled with ever more chaos.

California: Rebellion is no longer optional

From the California Globe: LA Teachers Union: Schools Can’t Reopen Unless Charter Schools Shut Down, Police Defunded

In what appears to be a labor union power play, the United Teachers Los Angeles union announced Friday that Los Angeles Unified District schools effectively cannot reopen unless certain conditions are met: privately operated publicly funded charter schools are shut down, police are defunded, Medicare-for-All government-run health care is passed, a statewide wealth tax is implemented, housing for homeless is fully funded, “financial Support for Undocumented Students and Families,” and they want a federal bailout because “the CARES and HEROES Acts provided funding for K-12, both fell far short of what would be needed to rescue districts and state and local governments.” The source cited for this claim is the National Education Association, the largest labor union and special interest group in the United States.
