Government stupidity is paid for by real people

It appears that Arizona is facing a water crisis. It has many facets, but here are some that are worth considering, both for people in Arizona and elsewhere. This is the case even if the FedGov-pressured grand agreement between Arizona and a half dozen other States actually goes into effect. (And if you believe that agreement will really solve anything, I assume you also believe the GOP debt-limit proposal will save the nation.)

But back to water in Arizona.

A Saudi company is leasing thousands of acres of State land and buying up thousands more of private farmland in the southwestern Arizona, along the Colorado River Valley and several tributary streams. That is desert… The Saudis appear to have unlimited rights to pump everything they can (if we believe CBS) and use it to grow alfalfa. Which is then shipped to Arabia to feed to milk cows. Why? Because it is illegal to grow alfalfa in Arabia because it requires so much water.

Really? The idiotic hypocrisy of American politicians

… and government.

The following headline appeared at Breitbart on 17 May 2023 (Wednesday).

We here at The Price of Liberty are suffering mixed emotions about this. Given our distaste for the FedGov, it is hard not to be sympathetic to an American State government who thumbs his nose (or threatens to) at SCOTUS. After all, it should not just be POTUS who ignores the Nine Nazgul, right?

At the same time, when idiots like Murphy claim that abortions – and abortion pills – save lives, it is a flat lie. Both science and most religions agree that an unborn child is a human – they have a life. EVERY abortion takes a life. Sometimes abortion can save a life – a mother’s life – but only by sacrificing another life.

We are specifically speaking of chemical abortions – using pills that contain drugs that will kill the child in the womb without the need for an actual invasive procedure in which the woman’s womb is entered and mechanical means are used to kill, usually dismember, and remove the child within. The point is, a child – a human – is being killed. An innocent life is being intentionally, deliberately taken.

Murphy and his Woke and so-called liberal supporters refuse to accept this. And New Jersey is home to many so-called intellectuals and activists who advocate for even killing children after birth if they are deemed “damaged” or “unwanted.” It should come as no surprise that a New Jersey leader would choose to defy SCOTUS on an issue like this. This tyrant and would-be mass-murderer wants to somehow purify the race, or some other hideous excuse for allowing (and paying for) killing babies.

But then, many politicians subscribe to the infamous words of politician and militia leader Colonel John Chivington. He justified his mass murder of Southern Arapaho and Southern Cheyenne in southeastern Colorado Territory in 1864 with the statement “Nits make lice.”

(Here is the full quote: “D*** any man who sympathizes with Indians! … I have come to kill Indians, and believe it is right and honorable to use any means under God’s heaven to kill Indians. … Kill and scalp all, big and little; nits make lice.

It is a sentiment that such notable (and honored by Woke and lovers of government and environists) people as Margaret Sanger, Rachel Carson, Nancy Pelosi, and of course the various POTUS dwellers at 1600 PA share, based on their actions.

Government is NOT the solution: it is the problem. Or at least a big one.

Can we learn any lessons from the past?

Publisher’s note: A rapid trip, 400 miles each way plus “ion-and’around” an area of the West new to us, both delayed postings and triggers these thoughts.

The Wind River Basin of Central Wyoming is one of the great beautiful places in the State. It is a wonderful mixture of lush mountains, rivers and canyons, grazing and irrigated cropland, beautiful lakes, desert, and opportunity.

It is not nearly as well known as it should be, in a State full of natural and human-made wonders.

But it is also the home of a sad story of government stupidity. A story which should teach everyone important lessons about how governments conspire and just plain cooperate to make life miserable for thousands and millions of people. For generations.

Is Canada’s “MAiD” part of a slippery slope?

Like more and more States and other nations around the world, Canada now has legalized “MAiD” – medical assistance in dying. That, of course, is a politically correct euphemism for euthanasia, or assisted suicide.

But according to a recent survey in Canada, many people want more. Indeed, more than 1/3 of polled Canadians are fine with homeless and “unbearably poor” people requesting (at government expense, natch!) to be put down – to be “assisted” in dying.

Indeed, we think that we are seeing the same slide into depraved murder (under the guise of compassion) in Canada that has been done in the Netherlands and elsewhere. (We believe that a human does have the right and should have the power to kill themselves, even though we believe it is wrong to do so. But our problem is with getting someone else to do it – or being pressured into doing it. Or accepting having it done. Or forcing someone to do it to you.)

Corruption, democracy, and courts

Readers know that we here at The Price of Liberty have little truck with those who believe that democracy is the only acceptable form of government. Shucks, we don’t believe in human mandatory government. Similarly we have serious problems with government-appointed and -paid courts and judges and all the rest of the adjudication system.

We read that the head (chief judge?) of Ukraine’s supreme court has been arrested (and presumably suspended or removed) for “corruption.” One specification claims he took $2.7 million in bribes on a single case. Now, compared to the FedGov, this guy is a piker: look at the godfather now in DC. And too many past and present members of Congress. But still, it is more proof that democracy is always corrupted by bribery – either legal or illegal.

Yuma, Arizona – poster child for the “Invasion” of 2023

The Daily Mail reported last week that several hundred border jumpers were roaming the streets of Yuma, Arizona, after being released “without full processing” by Customs and Border Protection. At the time, CBP supposedly held 28,000 or more migrants in holding areas. No one knows how many migrants which had already been “processed” had been released in the area and are located in the city of 100,000 people.

And there is no more news on how many more than that 300 or so unvetted border jumpers have been released in the last week. But Yuma did make the national news this week with a “mass shooting” in which 2 were killed and 6 wounded at a party. There is no indication that the city’s hosting the border jumpers had anything to do with this incident, and at least in the past, Yuma had less crime than average for Arizona. However, we also were told recently that medical facilities in Yuma had about $26 million dollars in costs treating migrants just in the past year that has not been paid for (yet).

This, and other incidents at the Mexican-US border, remind us more and more of the situation in 1916, particularly in and around a small town called Columbus, New Mexico, like Yuma a very few miles from the border. Then, too, it was seen as an “invasion.” Was it?

Theft by government – a reminder to us all

This marquee appeared down in Texas, I understand, put up by a brave businessman or woman.

We here at TPOL have no idea whether the gal or guy is a true lover of liberty and believer in free markets, or just a disgruntled “conservative” statist who is grumping. But whatever they be, they are echoing a message that we here, starting with Lady Susan (Mama Liberty), have been explaining for a very long time.

Today, we note that more and more people are spreading more and more truth like this. And we applaud it.

Because the truth is pretty nasty when it comes to “taxpayer’s money.”

FedGov good at micromanagement – but…

An MSN story appeared on 15 MAY 2023, explaining how Uncle Joe’s Regime is coming out in favor of religious freedom in public schools.

Now, we here at TPOL are as always highly critical of ANY presidential regime, as we see “massa” as being noting but a (supposedly) elected tyrant, and mostly a front-man for the powers-that-be.

So to us, this is just more confirmation of the same-old-same-old malarky.

As the document is described by the usual regime shill, it reminds us of the insanity called “Free-trade agreements” which take thousands of pages of detailed instructions that are supposedly necessary to have free trade between people and companies in various countries.

Thus we see that Uncle Joe graciously tells staff, teachers, students and parents that “Students may, for example, bow their heads and pray to themselves before taking a test.” How wonderful! Notice that they can “pray to themselves” not to God – or even to Satan or their ancestors!

Seriously, we suspect that the main impact of these “guidelines” will be to assure even more steady employment for attorneys, more opportunities for anti-religion activists to complain and put even more pressure on school boards, administrators, and voters. In other words, a Woke dream.

Because while there are few things the FedGov (and most all State and local governments – lest we offend anyone) is good at, micromanagement and making a bad situation worse are two of those things. Together with wasting money, immorally squeezing money out of anything and anyone they don’t like, and coddling criminals who are not politically incorrect.

Adding insult to injury, we still can find absolutely nothing in the United States Constitution that authorizes ANY branch of the FedGov to have anything at all to do with education, whether we are talking pre-pre-preschool or post-graduate programs. Nothing, nada, nicht! For the FedGov to intervene in any matter of public or private education is at best a violation of the 9th Amendment, if not both the 9th and 10th.

But never mind: that clause has been ignored since not long after the War Between the States. Indeed, there is no authority for the FedGov to have provided education as one of the “benefits” of all of the treaties signed with various Indian tribal nations – even the ones that the Feds had to create to have someone to “negotiate” with. The enabling acts which admitted States to the Union were filled with interference by Congress on the powers of States to provide for public education – assuming that the State’s people actually even wanted that. And which Congress itself promptly ignored and broke by giving what in essence were franchises to various denominations to run schools for AmerInd children and have exclusive missionary rights to a given people and region.

No doubt as we write this, the various education unions and State and local administrations are busy pouring over these “guidelines” to see how to bend them to accomplish their goals of destroying American culture, further crack down on religion, and (of course) give them more money and power.

The solution is simple and is growing in popularity since the Pandemic Panic and the Lockdown. Get the children OUT of the government-ruined, theft-funded schools and teach them at home or in private schools that do NOT try to milk government for money and benefits by kowtowing to the thugs. Your own, your other family children, your neighbors’ kids, the children of your fellow church or civic club members and fellow employees. Teach them to reject the evil that is government.

What went wrong in Farmington?

Farmington is a city of 45,000 in Northwestern New Mexico, the closest large city (well, in TPOL’s eyes) to the famed Four Corners, and the largest city in/near the Navajo Nation’s “Big Rez” and several other AmerInd tribes. Unlike the major New Mexico cities (Albuquerque and Santa Fe) it is generally conservative and with a mixed economy based on oil and gas, irrigated farming, ranching, and formerly coal mining and electrical power production. It has more in common with Texan cities

On Monday the 15th, in broad daylight, an unidentified 18-year-old starting walking up Dustin Street in an older residential area just north of downtown, apparently shooting at random at cars and houses. He killed three people and wounded six, including two responding police officers (one local, one State) who responded and killed him.

We here at The Price of Liberty are familiar with Farmington and San Juan County, with friends and clients in the area. (None that we know of were involved directly, though we called to make sure.)

Fighting “the Man” with humor

Recently a professor at a California community college was suspended for sharing “HerShe” and “HeHim” chocolate bars at an event. (Spoiler: the HeHim bars contain nuts, the HerShe do not.)

Seems the homosexual history professor stepped on some sensitive Woke toes, eh?

(The “gendered” (sexed) chocolate bars were the brainchild of Jeremy Boreing of the Daily Wire, and are funny if a bit crude. But he claims that Hershey’s (a Woke company indeed) came up with the basic idea and he just ran with it, NOT to Hershey’s liking.)

(More asides: We don’t make a dime for showing off Mr. Boreing’s products.

And more: Perhaps someone should start a chocolate company called “Hishimey’s Chocolate” to make a point? Their advertising could harken back to the old booze commercials, all James Bondish and such. One thing would could be sure of is that Hershey’s and other Woke companies would have cows. Whether they are male or female!)
