And Life Goes On…

By MamaLiberty

First light today in Newcastle, Wyoming, January 21, 2017 – 6:14 AM Mountain standard time. I always watch the sky for first light, and then wait for the sun to rise. The fact that first light came at 6:22 AM about a week ago is encouraging. I don’t write the time down, so don’t remember exactly, but I rejoice each day as it comes a little sooner.

Yesterday I took out my big tub of garden seeds and laid them out on the dining room table. The various kinds are in plastic zip lock bags, but always seem to get mixed up over the summer. So, each spring I sort them out. One pile to be started inside the house first, then another for a second round. One pile to be planted immediately after the ground thaws, but before the last frost. And so forth. I make a list of any seed I’ll need to buy, and toss out old seed that probably wouldn’t germinate anyway. Repackage and, regretfully, put the tub back in the closet.

And now I can go back to looking at a little of the “news” again, since the electoral political circus no longer presents endless photos of the open mouthed queen hag. Or none I saw this morning at any rate. Do I care about what Trump might do as “president.” Sure, but I’d wonder that no matter who had grabbed the brass ring. Can’t do anything about it, so I’ll continue living my life as much as possible as a non-aggressive, self governing individual.

Yeah, I’m a little ahead of myself as far as the garden is concerned, since it will be another month and a half before I can start the first of the seeds. But, so what? It is good to dream.

Not a “new years resolution,” since I’ve always believed this way, but here is a statement that will be on every email I send, and is the “signature” line on all the forums I visit.

I will not knowingly initiate force. I am a self owner.

Let the record show that I did not consent to be governed. I did not consent to any constitution. I did not consent to any president. I did not consent to any law. I did not consent to the police. Nor any tax. Nor any prohibition of anything. Nor any regulation or licensing of any kind.

Well, it is over

By Nathan Barton

Well, it is done. So far, the Chicken Littles have not been accurate: no coup to prevent the usual process of a new Massa taking over. No last minute invasion of Russia (with the bogus claim that 2,000 US Army M1 72-ton tanks were sent to Poland over Christmas to spearhead that invasion). No sudden-death overtime with nukes against Russia or China (or even North Korea). No Cuban invasion to prop up the now-dead regime.

But the panic is there: there are “protests” in DC as I write this – riots would be more like it; cars burned, stores looted, and perhaps shots fired. At least one-Trumpophobe has attacked one or more people there for the inauguration. I am sure that in the next few hours, we will hear of and see all kinds of things are done in the name of Trumpophobia and Anti-Trumpism, to say nothing of anti-fascism and more.

In South Dakota, my wife and I got a very plaintive appeal from the SD Democratic Party. In part the e-mail said: “If you’re anything like us, you have a giant pit at the bottom of your stomach today. Knowing that President Obama, a man of compassion, dignity, and grace will be replaced by Donald Trump, who (to put it politely) does not possess any of those characteristics, is discouraging to say the least.

“On a day like today, it’s understandable to feel hopeless, depressed, and ready to give up on the political process.” Continue reading

DOUBLE Baker’s Dozen ™ Attacks against the Donald and Efforts to keep him out of office

By Nathan Barton

As we near the triumphal coronation – whoops, inauguration – of the next Massa (POTUS), it might be good to think about how many things he has been accused of being, which make him unfit for that office.
1. ⃝ Declared him a racist. (Just like Lincoln and Wilson.)
2. ⃝ Declared him a sexist/misogynist. (Just like Teddy and LBJ.)
3. ⃝ Declared him a commie (Russian) lover. (Just like FDR and Wilson.)
4. ⃝ Declared him a Russian tool/fool and/or stooge. (Just like FDR.)
5. ⃝ Declared him a sexual predator. (Just like FDR and Ike and JFK and LBJ and Clinton and…)
6. ⃝ Declared him a loser sure to destroy the GOP’s chances of ever winning another election. (Just like Hoover and Teddy.)
7. ⃝ Declared him to be nothing but a fake-reality television personality/celebrity. (Just like JFK, sorta.)
8. ⃝ Declared him to be a security risk and incapable of keeping a secret. (Just like Ford.)
9. ⃝ Declared him an incestuous pedophile. (Just like Jefferson and Jackson were accused of.)
10. ⃝ Declared him to be a greedy opportunist that would try to grab every dime he could from government programs while he is in office, to increase his wealth. (Anyone look at how much the guy in there now had when he was first elected to office? Or Clinton?)
11. ⃝ Declared him to be a complete incompetent, unethical scumbag who cozened all these states to vote him into office. (Duh. Dubya. Harding.)
12. ⃝ Declared him to be a fascist. (FDR, Nixon)
13. ⃝ Declared him to be a Twittering fool. (Gotta admit, that’s a new one.) Continue reading

Accuracy Regarding News Media

I don’t know if this contains any truth, but I found it amusing. I don’t read newspapers, and have not for more than 20 years. MamaLiberty

Experts have found the following analysis to be near 100% accurate.

1. The Wall Street Journal is read by the people who run the country.
2. The Washington Post is read by people who think they run the country.
3. The New York Times is read by people who think they should run the country and who are very good at crossword puzzles.
4. USA Today is read by people who think they ought to run the country but don’t really understand The New York Times.
5. The Los Angeles Times is read by people who wouldn’t mind running the country, if they could find the time and if they didn’t have to leave Southern California to do it.
6. The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country.
7. The New York Daily News is read by people who aren’t too sure who’s running the country and don’t really care as long as they can get a seat on the train.
8. The New York Post is read by people who don’t care who is running the country as long as they do something really scandalous, preferably while intoxicated.
9. The Chicago Tribune is read by people who are in prison, who used to run the state, & would like to do so again, as would their constituents who are currently free on bail.
10. The Miami Herald is read by people who are running another country, but need the baseball scores.
11. The San Francisco Chronicle is read by people who aren’t sure if there is a country or that anyone is running it; but if so, they oppose all that they stand for. There are occasional exceptions if the leaders are gay, handicapped, minority, feminist, atheists, and those who also happen to be illegal aliens from any other country or galaxy, provided of course, that they are not Republicans.
12. The National Enquirer is read by people trapped in line at the grocery store.
13. The Seattle Times is read by people who have recently caught a fish and need something to wrap it in.

One Agency At A Time

By Nathan Barton

US Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (X, XX) just introduced the “ATF Elimination Act” as a bill in the latest Congress, according to BearingArms.com. His stated purpose is to reduce government spending and duplication, but it would obviously change American society in truly unimaginable ways.

Just imagine, in one fell swoop, fired by the new order sweeping the nation and the world, the FedGov would eliminate all alcohol, every firearm, and every sort of tobacco. Not only would the FedGov save billions upon billions spent both to buy these things AND to fight to control or prevent the use of these things. No, private individuals would see their disposable income explode, not just as taxes were cut but because there would be none of these things to spend their money on, and because they would not need to pay to protect themselves from these things, as well. (Do you know how much people and businesses have to spend every year on “No Smoking” signs and ashtrays and cans alone? Fabulous wealth is consumed!) Politicians and bureaucrats would no longer need to whimper and whinge about needing to raise excise taxes on all these products to pay to treat people for their use. The cost of raw materials would drop precipitously (boosting the economy tremendously) as the vast quantities of metal and other materials is no longer consumed in building up the world’s (and the Fifty States’) arsenals, as farmland was freed up from growing tobacco and rye and hops …

Opps, wait – sorry… Wrong universe.

No, what Sensenbrenner wants to do is to ELIMINATE the BUREAU of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (often called ATF or BATF, rather than ATFE or BATFE, for reasons I do not pretend to understand). My oh my, but isn’t THAT a grand and worthy goal? Ending a national embarrassment, freeing up all that labor and money, ending one of the toughest tools of tyranny in the Fifty States?

Yes, indeed, what a wonderful idea to usher in the arrival of the Age of the Donald (AD).

Yeah!

Oh, yeah. Read the details. The details in the fine print. And the devil is in the detail. Continue reading

The Price of Liberty blog was down most or all of Sunday, and I do apologize. A wonderful friend has hosted this site on his own servers for a long time, but he’s no longer able to do that and we will be moving to a different host provider in the next few days. You may not be able to load the site again at times, temporarily, until the dust settles and I beg your pardon and patience. Thank you for visiting, and we’d love to have your comments any time.

Don’t believe it…

By Nathan Barton

Yesterday, the POTUS-to-be had a news conference and gave a lot of us a great deal of pleasure by attacking the media, including those right there in the room with him, for their lies and overall behavior. It was fun to hear, and even MORE fun to hear the media squeal.

Sadly, it isn’t only the mainstream media (MSM) that spreads lies and propagandizes its readers and viewers. Too many conservative and libertarian outlets, let’s call them the “Alt-Media,” do the same.

Sometimes, like with the MSM, the Alt-Media publish lies and propaganda (even agit-prop) out of ignorance. As disgusting and pitiful as it is, there are some writers (and editors and publishers) who are just too stupid and ignorant to be… writers, editors, or publishers! Not uneducated. Iindeed, too many of them are so “educated” that they are accepted blindly by people taught to respect people for their academic achievements. And so arrogant that ancient kings seem modest by comparison. Continue reading

My oh my – what’s that cloud in the sky?

By Nathan Barton

A pro-cannabis-legalization web site, Smell the Truth reports that the DC mayor says that arrests are unlikely for “smoking weed” at Trump inauguration. “The few attendants of Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration should have little to worry about if they decide to smoke a joint during the event. Washington’s mayor says police won’t be seeking out to arrest crowd members using marijuana, reports the Associated Press. Mayor Muriel Bowser addressed the issue at a news conference on Friday when she said making arrests for smoking pot ‘wouldn’t be our first priority.’ Instead, Mayor Bowser insisted that police and city leaders want to see people peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights.”

So not only does the District of Columbia plan to violate federal law (not in itself a bad thing, by any means, especially giving the votes of the residents of DC on this particular issue), but it is clear that the DC government intents to facilitate and encourage the expression of hatred swelling in the ranks of the Left and their pawns (see my recent commentary on the The Daily Hate). Indeed, I wonder if some of the DC municipal officials might not participate, together with the usual gaggle of Hollywood ughs and oohs. Continue reading

Societal collapse – again?

By Nathan Barton

Things are getting bad again, south of the border (of Texas, NM, AZ, and CA). Very bad.

It wasn’t in the radio or TV news, but the Guardian (British) reported it, and Zero Hedge picked it up. On the 1st of January, the United Mexican States’ Federal Government raised the price of gasoline and Diesel by 20%, as part of a planned “conversion” to allowing fuel prices to be set by the market: supply and demand, instead of being fixed by government fiat (with, presumably, subsidies by government). As a result, it now takes a worker getting the minimum wage TWELVE DAYS to earn enough to buy a tank of gasoline. (It takes an American worker at minimum wage less than 8 hours – a single workday.)

But the real news is that the price hike quickly resulted in massive, nationwide protests. Protests in which thousands of people went out and blocked highways and streets (similar to post-election protests in a few American cities), and in which gasoline stations and convenience stores were attacked and looted and in come cases burned, quickly followed by attacks and looting of grocery stores, furniture and appliance stores, and other businesses with no connection to selling fuel. Leading, so far, to 700 arrests and at least four killings. And it seems to be getting worse. Continue reading

Any excuse…

By Nathan Barton

With the New Year, her Majesty’s Scottish subjects lose a little bit more of their liberty – the little they have left under the draconian-nanny Labour government, as entrenched north of Hadrian’s Wall as the Democrats are in California or New England, where even the staunchest GOP types smell just like Democrats.

The Courier reports that beginning on January 1st, airguns must be registered with the police. Yep: BB guns and pellet guns. (Couldn’t find out whether or not Airsoft guns are included: I assume that they are, since adding a needle (and a dab of poison) to one of those orange cylinders COULD kill someone if fired at a close-enough range.)

Once you start seriously sliding down that slick path, there is nothing that can’t be prohibited, from box-cutters to steak knives (or at least ones with pointy tips).

The latest mass shooting, by an ex-soldier in a Florida airport baggage claim area, was used nearly instantly by a meddling, Tranzi, hoplophobic and hoploclastic Congress critter to demand MORE controls. With no idea of motive or even really who did it, and certainly no understanding of the concept that if there had been even another armed person on that or another flight getting their baggage at the same time very few would have died or even been wounded, she wants action to take guns away from more people, prohibit guns from being transported in more ways, and push the entire hoploclastic agenda. Any excuse… Continue reading
