First light at 6:11 Mountain Standard Time, January 28, 20017.

The light was a thin line over the mountain, under dark clouds. As I watched, the blue glow from the snow all around grew lighter, and individual features not illuminated by the various yard lights began to come clear.  I could see the neighbor’s horses moving around, and faintly heard their dog barking as the man emerged from the house to feed his friends and warm up the pickup truck for his trek to work.

I am grateful to be retired, not needing to go out daily into whatever weather Wyoming is blessed with. I’m actually snowed in right now, and won’t likely get out of the driveway before Monday. I feel sorry for those who do have to go out in the cold and dark. I know a rancher here who spends a good part of February and March out in the worst weather, looking for and tending to early calves and any sick or hurt livestock.

And, of course, such things apply to far more than Wyoming ranchers. The fishermen who head into deep water. The loggers who plow through the snow or endure the heat to produce the wood we all need for everything from houses to paper. The miners who descend into the earth to retrieve the metals and minerals needed for just about everything. Continue reading →

The first few days of the Trump era

Things seem to be going downhill, fast, don’t they? News stories are already bemoaning how little Trump has accomplished, even though Monday was the first “full day” of work for the new Massa, and his staff is hardly in place, or approved.

Well, actually the cabinet appointments have already been deemed incomplete. It is not acceptable just to have women and black folks and military. The pundits are now condemning him because he has no Arab or Muslim or homosexual or transgender – and gasp! No Japanese-, Indonesian-, Keynan- or Venezuelan-Americans.

But there is more. Saturday the 21st was clearly the day of the Street Senate, as Mishmash  and others tell of hundreds of thousands of women flooding the streets of DC, Chicago, and other cities around the world to protest the inauguration of the new Massa. The WaPo  claims millions. And even the WaPo described the mood of marchers as being “fear and anger.” Apparently, even women in the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany and Spain are melting down, afraid that the evil troll Trump will direct his minions to snatch away their liberties and grab their private parts on his behalf. Public Schools’ Tyranny Grows

For the past decades, indeed, more than a century, the “Public Schools” (Government-run, Tax-funded Schools) have been descending into tyranny and the depths of child abuse, even while claiming to be fighting those things. And education, more and more, has become nothing but indoctrination. The “facts” taught are little but propaganda, while basics (such as arithmetic, spelling and writing, and science has been dumbed down to little but platforms for making “good little citizens” of the inmates and spreading the lies, the indoctrination, and the worship of the state.

That continues in 2017. The Free Thought Project tells us: “On January 1, 2017, the state of Missouri {did}… implement a public school policy sure to accelerate the descent into police state dystopia. The Hazelwood School District put out a memo to parents and guardians stating that, according to Missouri statute, fights at school or on buses will be treated as felonies — which can result in up to four years of prison, fines or probation.”

The next stage of government-run, tax-funded schools is well underway, making them even more indistinguishable from jails and prisons. Or treatment centers for the insane. Continue reading →

A war on the States

The Fifty States are sovereign entities, states (or nations) with all the good AND bad that status implies and has demonstrated throughout the centuries. And they are states which have chosen, for various reasons, to allow some of that sovereignty to be exercised by a common “federal” government. Which has then turned rebellious and traitorous against the sources of its power and its employers, those very States. And now, more and more, we see government, media, celebrities, and academia turning against the very existence of those States, claiming that they are no longer needed or viable, that they are harmful, and a waste of resources.

While the idea is relatively new in the Fifty States – as far as public perception, at least – it has been common throughout history. Just as federal unions were and continue to be common in the world, the “United States of America” (the Fifty States) share their status with the Provinces of Canada, which joined together about 150 years ago, the States of Australia, the Helvetian Confederation (Switzerland), the United Mexican States, and a few others. It is not an idea which time has gone. Rather, it is an idea whose real time is coming. That was the goal, at one time, of the European Union, and may yet again be, at least for part of that. It is an idea which seems to be reborn in the United Kingdom. Continue reading →

The empire expands

Back on the 7th of January, RonPaul.com reported that American troops were rolling into Poland. I wasn’t even aware we were at war with them!

Seriously, it is a NATO “peacekeeping” deployment, to face down those nasty folks in Russia. This is a permanent “peacetime” deployment, 72 years after American troops were “temporarily” used to occupy 1/3 of Germany.

On the 16th of January, the news, again from RonPaul.com, was that American Marines, for the first time since WW2, are being deployed for extended periods to Norway. And that Russia is upset. Again, didn’t know we were at war with the Norwegians. Especially not in the wintertime.

Again, seriously, Norway IS a member of NATO, and I did train with Norwegian soldiers several times back in the day. At the same time, I can understand why Russia is upset. The old regime in DC signaled time and time again that they wanted a war with Russia someplace, somehow. Or maybe many places all at once: Syria, Ukraine, Poland, Norway, and no doubt Vladivostok in Siberia! Continue reading →

New Boss Speaks…

Donald Trump pledges ‘America first’ creed, says ‘you will never be ignored again’

I just finished reading Trump’s inaugural address. Here are some of my thoughts…

Sounds very much as if this lunatic will complete the destruction of American freedom, wealth and peace… (And no, I didn’t “vote” for anyone. NONE OF THE ABOVE would be my choice if I did.)

There was absolutely zero mention of individual liberty or autonomy in this speech. Three hundred million + people will never, can never share all the same values, goals and aspirations. The crushing “we” here is as serious a pathology as the Klinton assumptions of authority and power to dictate her own ideology and whims.

No mention at all of the necessity for, or enduring benefits of, actual free trade (no governments involved), or a truly free economy based on what individuals and their voluntary associations want to do with their own lives and money. No, instead is the intention to force everyone to follow Trump’s vision for America. And, sadly, it is no more relevant to peace and prosperity than the insanity perpetrated by every other “president” in American history… just more severe.

No mention of individual responsibility for our choices and actions. A clear indication that the current wars on people (drugs, guns, sex) will continue in one form or another… for our own good, of course.

And Life Goes On…

First light today in Newcastle, Wyoming, January 21, 2017 – 6:14 AM Mountain standard time. I always watch the sky for first light, and then wait for the sun to rise. The fact that first light came at 6:22 AM about a week ago is encouraging. I don’t write the time down, so don’t remember exactly, but I rejoice each day as it comes a little sooner.

Yesterday I took out my big tub of garden seeds and laid them out on the dining room table. The various kinds are in plastic zip lock bags, but always seem to get mixed up over the summer. So, each spring I sort them out. One pile to be started inside the house first, then another for a second round. One pile to be planted immediately after the ground thaws, but before the last frost. And so forth. I make a list of any seed I’ll need to buy, and toss out old seed that probably wouldn’t germinate anyway. Repackage and, regretfully, put the tub back in the closet.

And now I can go back to looking at a little of the “news” again, since the electoral political circus no longer presents endless photos of the open mouthed queen hag. Or none I saw this morning at any rate. Do I care about what Trump might do as “president.” Sure, but I’d wonder that no matter who had grabbed the brass ring. Can’t do anything about it, so I’ll continue living my life as much as possible as a non-aggressive, self governing individual.

Yeah, I’m a little ahead of myself as far as the garden is concerned, since it will be another month and a half before I can start the first of the seeds. But, so what? It is good to dream.

Not a “new years resolution,” since I’ve always believed this way, but here is a statement that will be on every email I send, and is the “signature” line on all the forums I visit.

I will not knowingly initiate force. I am a self owner.

Let the record show that I did not consent to be governed. I did not consent to any constitution. I did not consent to any president. I did not consent to any law. I did not consent to the police. Nor any tax. Nor any prohibition of anything. Nor any regulation or licensing of any kind.

Well, it is over

Well, it is done. So far, the Chicken Littles have not been accurate: no coup to prevent the usual process of a new Massa taking over. No last minute invasion of Russia (with the bogus claim that 2,000 US Army M1 72-ton tanks were sent to Poland over Christmas to spearhead that invasion). No sudden-death overtime with nukes against Russia or China (or even North Korea). No Cuban invasion to prop up the now-dead regime.

But the panic is there: there are “protests” in DC as I write this – riots would be more like it; cars burned, stores looted, and perhaps shots fired. At least one-Trumpophobe has attacked one or more people there for the inauguration. I am sure that in the next few hours, we will hear of and see all kinds of things are done in the name of Trumpophobia and Anti-Trumpism, to say nothing of anti-fascism and more.

In South Dakota, my wife and I got a very plaintive appeal from the SD Democratic Party. In part the e-mail said: “If you’re anything like us, you have a giant pit at the bottom of your stomach today. Knowing that President Obama, a man of compassion, dignity, and grace will be replaced by Donald Trump, who (to put it politely) does not possess any of those characteristics, is discouraging to say the least.
