A façade of “democracy”
The next time you drive past what looks like a brick building or house under construction, stop and look carefully. Is it really a brick house, in which the brick is an integral part of the structure, supporting the roof … Continue reading

Who’s in charge, anyhow?
Although this is usually (for us here at TPOL) a rhetorical spiritual question, it doesn’t hurt to ask it regarding politics and liberty, now and then. Who is really running things? The thought this time is triggered by a blogger … Continue reading

What do we mean by government?
In the commentary “what do we mean by liberty?” we looked at several definitions. Some of those mentioned “government.” One reason we like the American Heritage definition is it speaks of control or restrictions “by a government or other power.” … Continue reading

We agreed… for a few seconds
As reported by the Daily Mail this last weekend, the most disliked VPOTUS in history (lower than Aaron Burr?) said that American democracy is the worst threat to national security, along with climate change. And apparently with those who disagree … Continue reading

The coup is not done yet!
With the beginning of the show trial impeachment in the Senate, it seems that the coup continues. I’m reading more and more people writing about the way in which the electorate and the election system has been manipulated to “save … Continue reading

In requiem: the Democracy of the “United States of America.”
With the end of the second decade of the 21st Century, democracy has died, and is replaced by a mobocracy which may swiftly transform into a tyranny. However oblivious and unwilling the observer, it is clearer than ever that government … Continue reading
Irrepairable – no union, no republic, no “democracy”
As the aftermath of last week’s “protest” at and in the Capitol continues to reverberate around us, more and more people are asking the equivalent of “are all these aftershocks?” But a few are asking, “Is all of this, including … Continue reading

Does the fate of the Republic depend on Georgia?
To listen to the politicians, the talk shows, the pundits, and the news stories, you would certainly think so. Depending on your political stance, the future of the Fifty States rests on the voters (legal, illegal, absent, mail-in, walk-in, and … Continue reading

Democracy – this is what we get…

Constitution is “anti-democratic.” Really?
It appears that Politico, that epitome of biased, government-lusting “journalism” has published an editorial that the United States Constitution of 1787, as amended, is un- and anti-democratic. They are far from alone in that. As a result, many so-called “Conservatives” … Continue reading →
