It’s a dog-eat-dog world

Those who worship the state – that is, government – often tell lovers of liberty that without mandatory human government, life would be miserable and short and brutish. “Just like primitive cavemen!” They tell us that “Taxes are what we pay for civilized society, including the chance to insure.” (quoting SCOTUS Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes).

Balderdash!

A recent video by Ron Paul, aggregated by Freedom’s Phoenix talks about the rapid growth of the predator class, especially among “religious leaders” (commonly called “pastors”), medical professionals, and the education establishment among others.

If the government’s role is to protect people from evil-doers, the governments are obviously failing.

Is it done yet?

Publisher’s Note: Today is Halloween, supposed to be a scary holiday. Perhaps the most frightening thing about this 2022 Halloween is that we still have 8 days to go until the election this year.

Is your brain fried yet? You don’t have to watch television (or news online) or listen to the radio to get bombarded with the junk. Open your mailbox, if you dare. Drive past thousands of yard signs and billboards to and from work or stores. Check your wipers when you get back to your car after going to an office or store: that probably isn’t a parking ticket – its campaign fliers. And watch out for those true-believers crowding the street corners with their signs.

On to the commentary:

We can only wish that this 2022 election WAS over.

The hype is insane: “the most important election of our lifetime.” “Our last chance to save our republic.” And more.

According to a LOT of people, the 2022 election is rapidly approaching being a done deal.

“Our” “Public” schools – worse than ever

The Price of Liberty has always taken a very hard stand against so-called “public schools” – better described as “government-run, tax-funded” or even “government-ruined, theft-funded” institutions (GRTF schools). (A name and acronym coined by the late Marshall Fritz.) He advocated the separation of school and state, for many of the same reasons church and state are separated.)

Thus we have a smile over the headline in the local mainstream media fishwrapper, shown above.

Greasing the slide – UK moving to fully “woke”

As we’ve discussed in recent commentaries, the United Kingdom continues to slide into the dustbin of history more and more quickly. And now, that long playground slide to the bottom has been greased yet again.

The Tory selection of Rishi Sunak, multi-millionaire ($843M per WSJ), former Chancellor (the minister of finance) under the failed Boris Johnson government, and runner-up to Liz Truss’s premiership less than 2 months ago, is yet another nail in the coffin. As more than one news story and commenter has noted in the last 24 hours, Whitehall is firmly in the globalist camp: increasing micro-management of everyday life not just for millions of Britons but for more and more of the world.

Once more the decayed, corrupt British system of government has demonstrated its failure. And no doubt speeded up its collapse. Oddly enough, this man probably would be King Charles’ choice as prime minister if the Tories (Conservative Party) had not served up Sunak to the new king. And strangely, also, this may reduce the effort to again get Scotland to secede from the United Kingdom, while Northern Ireland sees its future becoming more and more gloomy.

Most news stories talk about the failure of the Tories to pay attention to their constituency and voters in general, the push for central bank digital currency (and its great value for social control by government and the elite), and higher and higher taxes. Of course, the Conservative revolt which toppled Truss after just six weeks in office was a rejection of measures desperately needed to revive the British economy and help the ever-more-suffering people of the island (and islands). Supposedly, big business rejected the proposed tax cuts along with the government spenders: after all, the burden will continue to be on small business and consumers: the twin enemies of global big business. (And their hosts as parasites on the economy.)

Breitbart presents this as the completion of a coup and heralding the UK going fully woke, at least in the halls of power. This may not be far off the mark. Or indeed, spot-on.

More and more we see not just the weaknesses of Parliamentary government (which many believe to be the objective of Pelosi and Schumer in DC), but the dangers and weaknesses of mandatory human government. With a possible exception for incredibly-limited forms of government, according to some minarchists. With whom we here at TPOL agree with less and less.

How many bad apples do we have to find in a barrel before we throw it out?

Urban collapse – Cleveland style

The events are incredible.

This comes from Cleveland, Ohio, and a high school there. We won’t report the details, which you can read and watch (video available) here. In summary: four armed car thieves (in stolen cars) show up at a high school in session. The school security officer locks down the school, but two “assistant principals” override the security guy (on the phone with dispatch getting police to respond) and let the thieves inside the school building (admittedly, just an anteroom) to protect them from the police! Ultimately the thieves try to run from the cops and are captured, apparently without deadly violence.

Blindness or lies? Government at its “best”

Is government just blind (willfully or not)? Or is it just that government is incapable of telling the truth? Are lies essential to government? Lets look at just one example.

Dr. John Lott at the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) has a rather interesting new report. Among other things, the report says there have been “massive errors” in the FBI’s reports on attempted mass murderers. The report is quite damning of the once-respected agency.

Should we be surprised that the Feebes seem to have a strong bias against counting attacks that were stopped by armed citizens? Especially given what the FBI has been doing in recent years – and even more in recent weeks? Whatever trust people still have in the FBI is very much misplaced.

Too much government

Every day, there are incidents where some government goon (excuse me, “kind and gentle, loving, helpful polite public servant”) does something incredibly stupid to someone. Sometimes they do it of their own initiative. (Including “we need more tickets, people, need the revenue!”) And sometimes because of some “do-gooder” ratting out someone for something that ticks them off.

For example, from Wyoming a few weeks back comes this bizarre tale of government overreach, stool pigeons, and stupid regulations. The Cowboy State Daily reports that an aerial photo of the “sacred” Medicine Wheel in the Big Horn Mountains (a historical tourist attraction located on public land) has been condemned by various do-gooder Mrs. Grundy types, certain that it had been taken using a drone.

What is the death toll? And the blood is on whose hands?

A recent comment brought up the entire issue of the lethality of the Covid (Beer) flu vaccines, particularly in the United States, which is part of the overall worldwide issue of the number of dead from the pandemic and its side affects, including the response to it (the Panic). The Expose, a sensationalist website, claims that “Experts estimate 20 million are already dead due to COVID Vaccination & over 2 billion injured.”

Johns Hopkins University’s dashboard claims 6.6 million dead from the virus, worldwide (as of 18 October 2022), and 626 million cases – a bit more than 1% death rate from those who are known/believed to have gotten the flu. And almost 13 billion doses of the various vaccines administered. JHU does not report the number of people vaccinated, but the NY Times reported on 10 October 2022 that 5.35 billion people have received at least one dose. That is 70% of the world population, they claim.

(Note: can we believe ANY of the data from ANY source? Unlikely, so keep that in mind. Note especially any numbers for/from China are almost certainly pure fiction.)

The British Parliament – proof of governments’ failure

After just six weeks, in a land traumatized by the loss of their queen of seven decades and suffering from decades of poor decisions, the “new” Prime Minister, Liz Truss, has resigned. Promising more turmoil after one of the shortest premierships in British history.

In recent articles, we’ve discussed the United Kingdom: the collapse of its Empire, the decline of the nation, and more. Let’s talk about Parliament.

(As we pointed out, the British Empire was “killed” in World War One but took a while to die – long after its then contemporary empires died: German, Turkish (Ottoman), Russian, and even Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese. Dying not quite as quickly as the French, of course, leaving just three: the Soviet empire “new Russian empire” which died only thirty years ago, the new Chinese (Communist), and of course, the American. The present Chinese empire is unlikely to survive this current decade. The American one might survive a bit longer. Leaving the planet in a curious state not really seen for almost five hundred years.)

A Baker’s Dozen ™: Lies about guns and self-defense

As always, the media is full of lies – of omission, commission, and half-truths – about weapons, people, and society. Here are a few to watch out for.

The lies are intended to enflame fear and motivate those who are naive, who believe celebrities, politicians, and those who prey upon others. Consider these:
