Environmental impacts of the Russo-Ukrainian War

And the world’s reaction to it – especially that of the FedGov and the Fifty States.

It appears that the war might be slowing down a bit – after more than a month of fighting. Or maybe Will Smith slapping that guy has just pushed it out of the news?

Whatever might be the cause, even though the war may be less likely to lead to a nuclear exchange or even a more general war, we are going to be living with the effects of this relatively minor conflict for some time.

Although modern warfare – especially between two modern, fully-equipped, well-trained and highly-motivated opponents – results in significant and highly damaging environmental impacts, the other impacts of this on-going war may be far worse.

Of particular concern is the way the world has reacted and the measures to “punish” Russia being imposed by governments. However, much of the damage to the environment we may see is due to conditions created long before Russian tanks rolled into Ukrainian territory.

The blame game – Inflation edition

There is no doubt that inflation has gotten much worse here in the States in the last year and a half. And despite the impression of many people, we’ve been suffering inflation for several years – and I mean severe inflation and not just the creep of prices experienced over the last two or three decades. But even the most blind of politicians, economists, and voters realizes that the rate of climbing prices is now much greater. No matter how bureaucrats play games with the numbers.

Generations of love – generations of hate

We all face the fact that we carry ancestral and historical baggage around with us. And that society is significantly (and often badly) impacted by that. Lovers of liberty need to remember we are all individuals. Yes, we fit in many groups, but our relations with others needs to be one-on-one, recognizing we are responsible for our own actions, not those of our ancestors or other members of one of the pigeonholes we are stuffed in.

This point came up in a discussion of the current situation of AmerInd people in the Fifty States. The many hundreds of tribes (nations) that exist NOW land have societies and social orders and even political systems that reflect not just the last 500+ years of increasing interaction with people of European heritage, but for thousands of years before that.

We see the same thing going on right now in Ukraine and Russia and nearby nations. Ukraine was part of Russia from 1793 to 1991: almost 200 years. Some consider Ukraine to have been an imperial possession, while others consider Ukraine to be similar to, say, Texas. There are hundreds of thousands, even millions of people who are both Russian and Ukrainian – close relatives with ties to both. But there are also hundreds of thousands or millions who are “JUST” Russian or “JUST” Ukrainians – many of whom have been taught or learned to fear and even hate the other nationality.

Ukraine and Russia are hardly alone in this – consider England and Scotland, Denmark and Sweden, the successors of Yugoslavia, and of course most of the Arab world and the Middle East. And right here in the States. It is NOT a matter of “racism” and not just a question of politics. It is human nature.

Oil and North America – prospects?

By Nathan Barton

Some time ago, a reader (Tom Knapp, I think) made a comment worth revisiting given the Biden regime push against oil (and gas) and the rapid inflation in oil and gas prices. Are we now performing the experiment he suggested?

Oil is probably the single most subsidized commodity on Earth and American oil is the single most subsidized version of it. US energy policy over the last several years has been aimed pretty much entirely at keeping the price of oil artificially high enough to make US shale production, etc. profitable — with one variant, that being to try to find a way to seize Venezuela’s ultra-cheap, dirty crude so that it can be mixed with America’s ultra-expensive but clean shale to produce a refinery-quality happy medium. Tear the oil welfare queens off the US government teat and see if they can compete with wind and solar any better than they can compete with foreign oil without Uncle Sugar’s help.

Lies and government lies – children and COVID

Never forget that any child’s death is a time of sorrow and something to be regretted.

Especially children killed by their own parents, either in or outside of the womb. And children and teenagers who intentionally kill themselves.

But remembering that should NOT distract us from the misinformation – intentional or not – provided by the FedGov – the CDC – on children who died from or with COVID-19.

“All-time pediatric deaths from COVID-19 reported on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s COVID Data Tracker plummeted nearly 24% after the agency resolved a ‘coding logic error’ on Wednesday,” the Washington Examiner reports. Before the fix, the CDC tracker was reporting 1,755 all-time deaths from COVID-19 for children ages 0 to 17. After the fix, the number dropped to 1,339 all-time pediatric deaths.

Space – how costly can government make it?

People may get tired of libertarians preaching about government. we point out that government is not only corrupt, by its very nature tyrannical, a rebellion against God (and nature’s laws), and bad for most people. We also explain how government is also inefficient, inept, and insanely costly. Even we lovers of liberty sometimes get frustrated with telling people the same old, same old.

But every time we stop to take a breath in our tirade, something new surfaces. Or at least becomes more obvious. The wicked nature of government jumps off the front pages constantly.

So let us look at one example of that: the expansion of the human race outside our planet’s atmosphere.

The NY Times and the Biden crime family

It has been well over a year now, since the infamous laptop made headlines.

Which laptop? Hunter Biden’s – well, according to the headlines back in 2020, the “fake news” about a laptop that only the haters and the fascists claimed was actually his.

God, Russia, Ukraine and the rest of the world

What do you think of this? Apparently about 3/4 of the population of this planet has decided that Russia – and specifically Putin – is an evil monster and must be stopped, at all costs. (It may actually be lower: China and India are neutral favoring Russia. Which in the eyes of people like Dubya makes them enemies of Russia’s enemies. Somehow Russia (and Putin) is a combination of Imperialist, Communist, and Fascist. While poor, helpless Ukraine begs for weapons and aid, and yet seems to be holding off the Russia forces.

The blame game – Uncle Joe holds the bag?

Readers of The Price of Liberty understand (or at least we HOPE you do) that our organization and publication are NOT fans of the honorable Uncle Joe – the “big guy” who gets his cut.

But we often have to question what is claimed about this poor old man in the conservative and libertarian media.  For example, DID Uncle Joe so weaken the US militarily and diplomatically that Russia and China were (are) emboldened to reach out to touch someone in foreign adventures? Seriously?

Does all the fault lie in him? In his handlers? Is he solely to blame?

Who is to blame for the mess the world is in?

Many people believe that the Democrats in these Fifty States are to blame – that they built the world of March, 2022. They give many reasons for that belief. Reasons that may be part of the problem, but (in my opinion) not just actions taken by Democrats.  There are just as many reasons that Republicans are also responsible. And, for that matter, so-called “independents.”

Let us look at some of those.
